View Full Version : What have you bought off ebay lately?

I won the tv series on DVD BL Stryker with Burt Reynolds last night.

I buy books and dvd's pretty much exclusively.

I still enjoy buying off of ebay, the win some, lose some of bidding. Finding a deal. Just the pure convenience of buying at home.

I had a blast when our dollar was par with the US dollar.

I haven't bought anything in 3 or 4 years, at least ... maybe more ...

I don't have a paypal account ... the few times in recent years that I've found something on ebay that I would have purchased, it was 'paypal only' so I said screw it and found the item somewhere else ...

There's little personalized service on ebay anymore; everything is canned and automated and impersonal; if I want impersonal, I'll shop the big stores online, where at least I know the scammer-potential is lower. What I liked initially about ebay (the personal service, friendly emails, feedback that worked both ways, etc.) is all gone.

Haven't bought anything recently, been buying handmade stuff off of Etsy instead.

I've been enjoying picking up some decorative objects for our new home, things I couldn't find at all over there and mostly at prices much lower than I could find them in the US.

And the personal touch isn't completely gone from eBay, as I recently discovered with a foreign seller. What started as a simple exchange of Q and A about some of his items has developed into a correspondence about marketing his product line more effectively to Americans, among other things.

No, eBay's not what it was when I first found it in the '90s, but it's still fun on occasion.

That's encouraging, tabbs ... even back when I was an active seller, many of my most pleasant sales and conversations were with international buyers ... they were great!

I have bought quite a stockpile of Mary Engelbreit fabrics - and some other fabrics. Want to start making some quilts - nothing real fancy - just pretty and warm.

I get my makeup off eBay, because it's the only way I can afford Bare Minerals. I've got a great seller that carries the three items I use, and she offers sales now and then as well.

I get clothes for Daughter, too. The last thing I bought was the pair of jeans she called for permission to bid on while I was out Friday night. I like to find lots because the deals are so good sometimes. Not like they were seven years ago when I outfitted her completely one summer - shoes, dresses, shorts, tops, bathing suits - for $32 bucks including shipping, but still better than buying one piece at a time new.

I buy kitchen stuff. I love the old, heavy Guardian cast aluminum. Lately, I've been buying the old metal Kitchenaid mixer accessories. All their current parts are plastic, which will most definitely crack when I give them the workout they'll get when I'm canning. I made many quarts of relish lately with my fine new (old) grinder. Ebay is great for the vintage (but extremely useful) things you can no longer find anywhere else.

A "gently used" Boy Scout Adult shirt, size Medium - it was neither gently used nor was it a Medium :1hepbomb1

Seller is being an ass about it. Hoping to find a replacement before the District Banquet on December 4th.

2 pairs of size 6 pants - don't know what condition they're in because I haven't received them yet - Auctions paid for on November 4th. Seller apologized for not sending and said they were going out today. I'm not too hopeful.

I just got some hand sewn scrunchies for my hair. A girl can't have too many scrunchies.

I'm still writing to favorite sellers from years ago. Such wonderful, warm people. I tend to stay away from the big ones. I like the little sellers. But one big seller recently went the whole nine yards for me when one of the items in the sale was late. I finally got it two months later, and I think it took all of the profit out of it for him. But he came through.

I bought some Rival copper-bottom cookware (2 Dutch ovens) to replace some I lost.

I got a really good deal. I HATE the new feedback system. I only go there when I'm looking for something very specific that I don't think I can find anywhere else because it's usually obsolete.

nothing lately. I am scared to death about FEEbay these days. I even stopped selling on my other, not known account to obvious stalkers such as Lee and his merry band of criminals. Feebay used to be fun. Now it is a meddlesome bore.

I buy my widgets locally now......(playstation games mostly):KaoC010:

I LOVE it !!! .... Joy.

I won the blue collar comedy series last night.

Free shipping how could I resist.

I gave DW my book wish list, so I can't buy books.

I'm addicted to buying bargain movies, so its just not safe buying me movies for Christmas.

Received my pants today...

I'm excited!
I won a pair of fabrizio gianni pants (retail for $175) for 99 cents. I thought they were a size 6, but they were actually a size 4 and THEY FIT!

The others were a pair of Carlyle for 9.99 and they are perfect too!
I thought for sure the items would "get lost" and the seller was going to refund, but they came through and I'm happy.

Now if I can just get a refund for the returned shirt, I'll be happy.
