This one is cropped down so you can see them better. (I can post the original if you want, Doofy. But you'll have to let me know quick; we're out the door here shortly.)

OMG. How cool is that? I have never in my life seen a moose in the wild.

Sorry, I will get to it.

Thank you for hosting the pictures.

My Mom is coming this weekend, so I'm cleaning house.

I have to go to work so I can get some spare time. ;)

I was astonished when I visited my sister in Alaska and saw moose up close. The SIZE of them. I had no idea. Incredible.

I drove into an abandoned yard, did what I had to do and turned around to leave when out of the corner of my eye I noticed something over by the shelterbelt.

The female moose was lying down in the tall grass. Its amazing how well they blend in.

I drove toward her and she stould up but didn't bolt. I got out and walked towards her and she still didn't move.

I then saw some movement in the bush behind her, and started getting the idea that she was standing between me and it. So considering the size of her, I didn't press my luck any further.

I don't know how close I was, but it was right there, I was thrilled.

I went back to my truck and phoned everyone I knew, I was just like a big kid.

DW gave me crap for not having a camera.

While I was on the phone the male came out of the bush so they were both standing there looking at me, It was truly amazing.

I also learned that there was something wrong with the females front leg, and thats why she wasn't runni9ng off. We were never sure if the male was a yearling, or her mate. He was only about shoulder height on the female.

A friend said he could come later in the afternoon.

I left to do some work, and when I got back there was just the female. When my friend arrived and we walked up towards the female, all of a sudden the male leaped up out of the long grass and took off.

Scared the bejeezuz out of us. I was there for half an hour waiting for my friend and I never saw him.

The male would never go very far, he would do circles around the old farm site, and when we moved away from the female, he would move back to her.

My friend took the pictures.

When DW got off work, I hustled her and DD down there and got there just before dark. They were both still there, it was something very special I got to share with DD.

I went back two days later, and they had moved off.

Wow, I'm glad you were able to see that with your daughter. She'll cherish that memory.
