A 4-year fight over the nation's energy policy is over with the signing of a multi-billion dollar energy bill by President Bush. During the signing ceremony in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bush noted that the legislation will not "solve our energy challenges overnight."

The President says the policy means the US won't have to rely on foreign oil as much over the next decade.

Bush: "The energy policy act of 2005 is gonna help every American who drives to work, every family that pays a power bill."

The measure will send billions of dollars to energy companies in the form of tax breaks and loan guarantees, requires utility companies to follow federal standards and extends daylight savings time by 1 month.

Fucker! FUCKER!!!

Trying to DESTROY Halloween for kids. FUCKER!!!!!!!!!!

They are afraid of the dark.

I'm a lot more concerned about how this is going to affect my systems nationwide. They are unmanned and I can't change the freaking time remotely! I forsee me doing a week-long flight marathon in 2007 to update the time and load new software. :(

I have always visioned "bush" as a cunning (little) weasel. Sort of like chops and his minions. I will never be amazed at what levels he will go, just like chops and his minions. I look forward to the day when "bush" is voted out of office after the US Tribe has spoken, just like chops and his minions.

Could the next president (xing digits for a dem) simply repeal this idiocy?

Presidents never repeal the strangleholds passed by previous presidents, they merely add to them.

Luckily, Arizona doesn't practice daylight savings time, so I am not affected. Someone please tell me how giving corporate welfare to oil companies has any effect on where the oil comes from, or how it would make us "rely less" on foreign sources? I mean, if I buy my groceries at the local Safeway, and you give me loans and grants and free money, why would that change where I buy my groceries? Like, is there any correlation? We can't "rely less" on foreign oil when it's foreign nations that HAVE THE OIL! DUH! It's true that America has 25% of the world's oil supply, but produces just 12% of the world's oil supply, but it's never going to be tapped, no matter how much money is fed to the oil companies, it simply isn't feasable. Half of our oil supply is located in areas where digging is banned or where waters are too deep to dig. We did manage to supply our own needs for oil until 1970, when we were forced to import. UNLESS WE MOVE TO ALTERNATIVE FUELS, nobody, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, is going to have ANY OIL in 30 years. DUH, Bush, you retard.

They are afraid of the dark. Uh, I hate to be the one to correct you, but "extending" daylight savings will keep it light "longer" on Halloween.

The problem is that it will be dark longer in the morning - when some kids are heading to school - that is the major downfall and the biggest complaint against the idea.

Having it light later in the evening saves electricity - that is a fact. The new energy policy also calls for a study of Daylight Savings all together - so it could be done away with complety in as soon as two years - if the study says it should be.

Arizona loses millions of federal dollars every year because they choose not to adopt DLS - any state can do the same.

Tax breaks to independent oil well owners will incourage them to pump more oil from INSIDE the US - the tax breaks only apply to oil exploration in the US.

UNLESS WE MOVE TO ALTERNATIVE FUELS, nobody, ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD, is going to have ANY OIL in 30 years. DUH, Bush, you retard. So then, saving energy by extending daylight savings and encouraging local oil exploration makes him a retard?

There are also BILLIONS of dollars of tax breaks in the energy bill that will encourage the developement of alternative energy vehicles.

What a retarded idea!

Bush could hand out $100 bills at the DNC and TR would get in a hissy over it.
