I didn't know they came in those different shapes and colors. Some of them are really pretty.
The ones I've seen here look like the one eating the hummingbird. I've got dozens of hummingbirds right now, too. I'll post some pics of them as soon as I get my camera software installed.

Me neither. I wonder how many live in the US, and in which parts of the country. If I saw the one in the second link, I'd run like hell.
They're one of my favorite insects. Or were, until I saw that poor hummer!

How about a spider as big as a dinner plate?
Bird eating spiders, HUGE!
Body was at least 8 inches long, legs probably a 12 inch spread.
Saw one at the recent Natural History museum Bugfest!

A Frenchman and an Italian were seated next to an American on an overseas flight. After a few cocktails, the men began discussing their home lives.
"Last night I made love to my wife four times," the Frenchman bragged, "and this morning she made me delicious crepes and she told me how much she adored me."
"Ah, last night I made love to my wife six times," the Italian responded, "and this morning she made me a wonderful omelet and told me she could never love another man."
When the American remained silent, the Frenchman smugly asked, "And how many times did you make love to your wife last night?"
"Once," he replied.
"Only once?" the Italian arrogantly snorted. "And what did she say to you this morning?"
"Don't stop."

A Catholic Priest was about to leave his Mission in the jungles where he has spent years teaching the natives when he realizes that the one thing he never taught them was how to speak English, so he takes the chief for a walk in the forest. He points to a tree and says to the chief, "This is a tree."
The chief looks at the tree and grunts, "Tree."
The Priest pleased with the response. They walk a little farther and he points to a rock and says, "This is a rock."
Hearing this, the chief looks and grunts, "Rock."
The Priest really getting enthusiastic about the results when he hears a rustling in the bushes. As he peeks over the top, he sees a couple of natives in the midst of heavy sexual activity.
The Priest is really flustered and quickly responds, "Riding a bike."
The chief looks at the couple briefly, pulls out his blowgun and kills them.
The Priest goes ballistic and yells at the chief that he has spent years teaching the tribe how to be civilized and kind to each other, so how could he kill these people in cold blood that way?
The chief replied, "My bike."

I have hummers. And a couple of days ago my cat bit the head off a praying mantis and left the decapitated thing at the door. I don't feel so bad about it now. Daaamn that was viscious.

I'd rather be holding 10 snakes in each hand that touch a bug like that.
Ugh.
