Have you ever wondered WHETHER today's young people have the time to really think and wonder, as so nicely captured in the following words of Mark Twain? >>>>>"We had the sky up there, and we used to lay on our backs and look up at them, and discuss whether they was made or just happened."<<<<<<<

I think it's up to parents to make sure their kids have the time. Unfortunately, many don't. Some parents (not all) load their kids' schedules with so many supervised and team activities; some teachers (not all) give hours of homework a night to elementary schoold kids, so that there's no time left to use their imaginations to occupy themselves.
We're becoming a true or false society, one in which we choose the most popular/emotional/knee-jerk response, and figure we've got a 50% chance of being correct. Heaven forbid we should have to learn and think about an issue ... we just want to make our guesses and get on with things. That guy on the radio sounds pretty smart, plus he's funny, so we'll just go along with what he says.
(Sorry, went off on a little tangent there.)

That was no tangent. It was the truth. More truth is that too many people always aplogize for offering it.
