I think it's deliberate act to maximize the attention he receives. Negative attention is more intense than positive attention so that's what he aims for, at least everywhere I've seen him post. He's fortunate to find a group of people at FI who for some strange reason are anxious to "feed" his need. No wonder he won't go away.
