I believe the little furry creatures of this world are Angels. Two more of my little ones must go to the spirit world today. Huck's legs will no longer support him and I am sending his lifelong brother companion with him. They have been together all their lives and have been all each other have had. I refuse to separate them in death.
I rescued Tom and Huck 15 months ago, because their owners divorced and were going to have them put down. They were neglected of love and attention all their lives. When I got them Huck could not even walk. I took them in and gave them the love they so richly deserved. Their eyes have told me thanks every day I have had them. They have learned that pig ears and cookies are daily events.
I told my beloved Joe Joe to be waiting on them when they come over because Huckie is a gentle little creature and he will be scared. My heart breaks again, but that is the price we pay for having loved.
On behalf of my little friends, I encourage each of you to have your little creatures big and small spayed and neutered and to take good care of your little angels. If you want a friend visit your local humane shelters.
God smiles on those who care for his little creatures.

Indeed, He does. Blessings on you for the heart you so willingly share with your fur family.

God smiles on those who care for his little creatures.

I sure hope so. I need all of the smiles I can get, and have plenty of loved fur-family members to get them with.

Bless you in your time of pain.

Mike.

I firmly believe we will be reunited with our critter babies in Heaven. I refuse to think that Heaven is segregated.

It just couldn't be Heaven without our furry family. :clap8

These two brothers were so attached that if one came inside before the other they stood at the door waiting worrying about the other. Everything they did, they did together. They even slept together curled up inside each other's paws. These two dogs had been severely neglected all their life, and it was if they felt all they had was each other. I gave a lot of thought to this prior to today, because the day was fast approaching and both were old. I believe that the other would have died of grief. I chose not to separate them in death. It was not an easy decision.

How sad to read and even sadder for you. My heart aches just reading this. It's never easy to let a beloved pet go but when they're in pain it's the most selfless act anyone can do. Blessings to you.

This may be the most genuinely touching animal story I have ever read. I'm happy that you could show these two that there is good in the world in their final years. They will be sent off to whatever lies beyond our existence with love. If there's a heaven, a special place exists there for people like you.

Maybe when they get to where they are going, they can hang out with my dog, Molly, who left the world almost two years ago. May there be open spaces to run, frisbees to catch, and yummy treats for all.

Wanda, I'm so sorry for your loss. As I went through the same thing with my Jitterbug and her dear sister Tango, when Tango went it was so very difficult for Jitty, but she adjusted quickly and is still quite happy and healthy.

I wish you'd chosen otherwise, but I'm sure you did as you saw fit.

Hugs to you and your furry ones. :(

Wanda, I'm so sorry.

You are the only person who really knows and understands the bond between those two and who can decide what is best. From what I've read, and what little I know of you on the boards, you made the very best decision possible with the best interests of the animals in mind, as I would have expected.

You showed them that there is love in this world, gave them a good life while you could, and have demonstrated yet again, how much you love them both.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I had to let someone know of those beautiful little creatures. My heart is shattered, and since Joe Joe went to the spirit world on April 25, my world has truly been turned upside down. I remember Tom and Huck and Joe Joe, and every thing I do reminds me of their little trusting hearts. I truly understand the word grief, and know I have more coming. I have 6 Saint Bernards and 2 mutts left and they are all getting old in addition to the cats that have come my way. I would not trade the joy they have brought me for anything, but when they go to the spirit world it nearly kills you. It is just almost more than my heart can bear. Thanks again for your kind words.

When the Time Comes

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
And pain should keep me from my sleep
Then will you do what must be done
For this – the last battle – cannot be won

You will be sad I understand
But don’t let grief then stay your hand
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test

We have had so many happy years
You wouldn’t want me to suffer so
When the time comes
Please let me go

Take me to where my needs they’ll tend
Only, stay with me until the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see

I know in time you will agree
It’s a kindness that you do for me
Although my tail it last has waved
From pain and suffering I have been saved

Don’t grieve that it must be you
Who has to decide this thing to do
We’ve been so close – we two – these years
Don’t let your heart hold any tears

-Anonymous pet lover

Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you...
I loved you so ~~
'twas Heaven here with you.

Sorry to hear about your two friends. It's such a tough decision to make on behalf of another being.

Take care
