Ross,

To minimalize the damage, you might want to hide your forums until this situation with EZBoard blows over. Store your archives and create one forum for people to post in. When the situation is cleared up, return all the old forums to the board. For information on how to do this, stop on by the PCFree Board p072.ezboard.com/bpcfree (http://http://p072.ezboard.com/bpcfree)and contact Baller08. He should be willing to help you if you have any questions.

This is what our administrators did to protect the board and it seems to be keeping things under control.

"Store your archives and create one forum for people to post in."

That would seem to be the consensus among many EZops. Strange, other than the initial "attack", TRB seems to be OK, as far as posting goes. What's it look like from your side of the monitor Ross? :joint

I'm getting word that this virus attacks boards indiscriminately and wipes them out. A board may be fine one day and be wiped completely the next. This is why it is probably a good idea to store your files until this crap is cleared up and the ashole or assholes who did this are rotting behind bars. Maybe even a good idea for admins. to practice backing up all files until EZBoard can find a defense against this sort of attack. I'll bet this punk (or these punks) have copycats.

How do you store them to keep them from getting wiped? I mean, MBA boards have been wiped...

I'm getting word

From where? From who? Have you reported this "word" to ezboard?

Hidden forums are no less vulnerable than visable ones.

On another ezboard that I own, there's a hidden forum. It was wiped.

As soon as someone FROM EZBOARD tells me to do something, that's when I'll do it.

Just passing information down on what other admin's are doing to protect their boards, Ross. Handle the situation as you see fit. Best of luck.

Looks as though all of our forums have been restored over at PCFree, so the situation may be under control enough that the worst issues have passed.

As soon as someone FROM EZBOARD tells me to do something, that's when I'll do it.

It wasn't even ezBoard techs/muckymucks that figured out that option Webbew is talking about, r0ss - it was an ezOP that figured it out and alerted them to it. I wouldn't hold out for ezBoard techs being able to tell you anything - apparently they don't know their asses from their elbows.

Oh, and it's not over - more boards went down this afternoon (wiped right out) again, unless they had the new forums up and running - those were fine.

I locked the threads we had left the other day, and this morning I created temp storage forums corresponding to the forums I wanted to store. I then copied the threads to the appropriate storage forums. The originals are still in place- I just didn't want to risk moving them.

I created a temp chat forum, and that is where were are posting for now.

It just seemed to me to be good idea to have copies of the threads in new forums in case the originals get overwritten by older versions from any restoral that takes place.
