Should President Bush be held responsible for delay in hurricane response?
We know that on Tuesday, while people were drowning in New Orleans, the President was promoting the war in California, eating birthday cake with John McCain and strumming a guitar with a country music performer. Dick Cheney was on vacation in Wyoming. And Condoleeza Rice was buying Feragamo shoes and taking in a Broadway show. None of them were in Washington, even though news of the disaster was well known all around the country.
Right now, the White House is trying to pass the blame for delayed response on to the governor of Louisiana, rather than accept any itself.
We all know what we saw this week, and we all know how we felt. We didn't need any pundit to tell us. The pictures and pleas of desperate Americans said it all.
How do you feel today? Is George W. Bush, the President of the United States, ultimately responsible for the delay in getting Federal help to New Orleans and the other stricken areas?
