It shouldn't be politicized, and I don't think that was the intent of the thread. It was a simple remembrance thread, until Base posted.
Understandably, emotions are high right now concerning what's going on in our country, but I would hope we could have a simple remembrance for the victims, that we could recall the horror of that day, without bringing Bush into it.
I doubt the people jumping out of the windows and burning to death were thinking of Bush when they died. I wasn't thinking of him at all when I witnessed that horrible event. I don't want to let him influence every thought I have about that day.

I see the words 9/11, and I think of politics.
It's already been made political. It's a political issue.
Blame the government, not me.
I can't think of 9/11 for anything except politics.
9/11 was commited for political reasons, as a matter of fact, SO: it's always been political.
It's political.

Here, I have to agree with ross. It may not have been political to the victims, but it was political to the perpetrators and has been political every step of the way since.

Damn right, Ross.
9-11 was a national tragedy and a day that could have united the country.
Except that the tiny little man who occupies the Oval Office saw it as just another "wedge" issue to hammer the Democrats with.
All great "wartime" leaders of Democracies (I'm thinkng Lincoln, FDR, Churchill as the best examples) saw the need to defer some of the day-to-day partisan bullshit in the cause of national unity. GWB saw it as the best opportunity he was ever likely to have to stick it to the Democrats.
Now, he pays the price. A tiny little man with rapidly diminishing support, presiding over the worst economic mess the country has ever seen.
No, sorry, while I still mourn the dead at the WTC and the Pentagon and celebrate the heroism of the passengers on flght 93, the main thing 9-11 means to me is Bush's use of the disaster to "stick it" to his political adversaries.

Couldn't have said it better...these neocons are ruining our country and Basestealer was so right in so many ways.
Heartland, I am sure the victims weren't thinking of Bush and his foreign policy, but for the sake of our country, we have to. 9/11 isn't going to be the end of it...our response to Katrina just gives the terrorists the fodder they want.

It's about as political as you can get. Too bad isn't it? But, amid all the bullshit we'll still remember the lost and the hero's.

Believe me, I think of almost nothing else these days. My Bush rants are all over this forum. But I still have room to remember the victims and the real heroes of that day without letting the stink of Bush dishonor them.
