Just a reminder ...

(obviously GWB is a fan as well - he's not going to speak until 9ET, I'm sure he wants to watch Survivor first, heh)

Hard to believe it's the 11th season already ...

:bbq:

we need that little 'tribe has spoken' emote ...

So? First impressions?

I'm thrilled that Stephanie is back, but I'm not crazy about Bobby John. They can use his brute work ethic, but they won't get much out of him in the brains department.

I don't really have any favorites yet. I think they'll vote Stephanie off as soon as they've gotten all they need from her. I'd love to see her stay to the end, though. I don't really "know" any of the others well enough yet to form an opinion.

That 11-mile hike through the jungle was wild! Strange that all the guys on the one tribe got sick, and none of the guys on the other tribe did. And none of the girls did. Good thing the sick guys had a nurse, eh?

Cut and pasting my comments from Bob's place so I don't have to type twice, lol:

That trek was by far the most grueling opening in Survivor history. 24 hours to get to camp? OUCH!

Bobby Jon looked like he was a goner. Physical strength isn't going to hold you up as much on torture like that as endurance and zen. ;)

SO glad to see {{{Steph}}} back!
Early on I like the nurse chick and Cindy, and surprisingly I may like Gary... he's somewhat amusing to watch, heh. Wonder what the ruckus will be when everyone eventually discovers/uncovers who he really is.

Only two reason I can think of that it would work against him, and that would be 1) that he might be physically and mentally better in some of the challenges because of his experience, and 2) that he probably doesn't need the money as badly as some of the others do.

Who, Gary? Yah I thought about that too. The money resentment factor could play against him. 11 years of NFL = chingo.

I'll just ditto what Heartland Antiques said in her first post. Those were my initial thoughts, as well.

Great to see Stephenie back - Bobby John was a major dissapointment. I think Steph's team may actually fare quite well. Really like the nurse.

Men - buncha wimps!!! :1barf1: :1crazy2: :gerbouill

It's that damned machismo thing that gets the guys every time ...

"I'm the big strong man - I'll carry TWO bags of supplies AND the water AND the luggage, and will carry three women over my shoulders if they start to faint, as well ..."

They just overdid it ... share the load, stop acting the hero, and realize that in order to even GET on Survivor, a woman has to be at least reasonably fit and strong.

Also - isn't there some medical fact about a woman's body being a higher percentage of water than a man's? That would make it obvious that a man would dehydrate first, even if he wasn't lugging everything himself ...

They are lucky they have the nurse there. I liked her, myself. For now.

Too early in the game to decide who Im going to love to hate and hate to love.

Im kinda hoping Steph goes far....but then again...she had her shot at it and failed. Same with Bobby Whatever.

One guy says:

I'm calling bullshit that Danni would recognize some shitty quarterback who last played a season back in 1989. Sportscaster or not, Danni is 30. There's no way she would remember this guy. His heyday hit even before this woman was in puberty.

Secondly, the whole thing came off contrived as fuck. She suddenly just blurts this information out to the other team assuming that they would be unaware of it. How the fuck would she know that Gary hadn't told his tribe of this fact?

I don't buy this shit at all.

But I think like this girl:

Danni knows who he is because of her job. My bro is a sports editor for a daily newspaper. He knows stats and bios of players from when the NFL first began, and reads old SI issues for fun. Maybe Danni's older bros collected football cards. Mine did. I'm just saying.

Looks like someone joined the board just to post THIS:

Hey Ass wipes...I actually live in Kansas City, and before our hometown heroine left for the jungle I used to listen to her sports show on the radio. The girl KNOWS sports. I'm serious...she KNOWS sports. Of course she usually talks about local teams, and obviously from her attire on the show, and various rumors around here regarding her and a certain tightend, she LOVES her Chiefs! BUTT...and I must say I was sorry they blurred hers out during the mud fight, as it would appear she has a nice one...she also talked a lot about the Cowboys. I once heard her say they were her Dad's fav. team. So, I'm not surprised she recognized old Gary.

Second...if you people actually listened to the show tonight...she DID call Gary a quaterback during the mud fight. She called Judd the mud monster a linebacker. It was that sissy boy Brian...who I doubt knows the difference between a quaterback and linebacker, but probably does like "tight ends", who mis-quoted her as he relayed the story to Gary back at camp.

I must call BS on those who have shit for brains and know not of what they speak. Long live the Chiefs, the Cowboys, and Good old Gary.

Still too early to decide. But Rafe IS pretty worthless as a competitor in physical challenges. He MIGHT be better at the mental puzzle ones. Time will tell.
Im really surprised at how stupid or "unaware" contestants are when they go on survivor. Dont they know by now that lazy ones get booted first? Sheesh.

Dont they know by now that lazy ones get booted first?

Mrs. Ross and I were discussing the same thing, last night.

How can you not know that "camp work" is important for the first weeks or so?

Cut and paste again from my HI post:

I must say that I can tell already that boy howdy it is going to get tiring to hear about Gary being ex-NFL. How's this: I DON'T F*IN CARE. If I were on his tribe I wouldn't care either. Obviously his physical strength and fitness can be judged on its own without 'what he used to be able to do 15 years ago' lol - hence Judd dragging his weak self down into the mud. Ok granted Judd has some muscle and weight on him but if he were in NFL shape he could have fared better. He is not. He is in landscaper shape. So why all the cloak and dagger. "Who me? No, Danni is wrong, she must have me confused with another ex-quarterback named Gary" :1bonk1: Stupid. And he's digging himself a nice tidy little NFL grave.

Love Steph still - "I am NOT going home tonight". :1chirol_c

Megan: good riddance, Miss Lazy Butt. She was the first one to piss me off by picture alone before the show started :1chirol_r I'm glad to see ppl getting eliminated for good reasons rather than popularity contests, y'know?
By the same reasoning, Blake will prob be next to go on the other tribe.

Gary and his Dallas quarterback bonk :1bonk1: may turnaround and "pop" him in the face.
Agree 1989... who remembers??? who really cares??

Yeah, the gal who got the boot.... her parents have her a spa appt ready as soon as she gets home. Most likely she is waaaa too pampered to handle surviving....bye bye to that one!

What about Step and Bobbie Jon? Why did they get to come back? Do you suppose it is all about the fact they were stranded from the other team. Maybe they had a greivance re being picked off?? Remember Steph did not win one "immunity" even though she was truly a trouper.

I do not watch the show, but this morning on the local news they were talking about a girl who is still on the show from the Cincinnati area. Who would that be?

What about Step and Bobbie Jon? Why did they get to come back?
No idea. I suppose it was the *wildly popular* factor although while I concede that Steph was indeed wildly popular, I didn't think the same applied to Bobby Jon. He never did anything for me, particularly with those nasty shooting snot rockets that made Steph want to puke in the last show :1eek2:
Maybe they're trying to come up with a way to sneak Steph a mil like they did when they had the '2nd chance mil' for Rupert ............

Eriu, Margaret the nurse is from Chardon, Ohio. I have no idea if that's near Cincinnati, but no one else is even close.

That must be who they were talking about. Although I have never heard of Chardon. Hmmm, guess I'll go look it up.

Im getting sick of Steph. Like they said at SS board...shes been there twice and is STILL whining. Yeah, shes tough and she kicked butt tonight...but Im tired of seeing her center stage. She had her chance...now lets see more of the other contestants, please.
Brianna was worthless...glad they got rid of her.

So far..I really like lydia. Shes small, but she has gumption and she busts butt. No slacker, her. And I like the cop gal. Shes tough too.

Bobby John is a dweeb. Nurse helped him when he needed her and now he whines about her. Both he and Steph should never have been part of this one. Like I said..they had their chance.

Loser farm boy...I think I dont like him much. Gary is ok...so far. Rafe is pretty worthless but has heart and desire..hence eating bugs for protein, lol. Smart guy. The rest havent made much of an impression on me yet and the jury is still out, pardon the pun.

So....I guess for now...Im rooting for Little Lydia and the cop lady.
