Not so sure as to which is the better state to live in but I have never ever had even the remotest wish to so much as visit California. At least not since Disneyland fell off my list of gotta see it places when I was about 12.

Everyone know the best sky conditions in the country are in Arizona, that's where Lowell Observatory is. ;)

Never been to Arizona but I had a boyfriend from there who raved about it.
I was born in California but haven't been back since I was - oh 3 months old - so I don't remember much.
Kinda hard to vote, but I went with Arizona. :)

Arizona is not a bad place, some areas are a little warm in the summer. Hands down it beats New Mexico,

Hmmm, lemme see, gee this is gonna be a toughie!!
116 degree DRY Heat....like an anvil on your chest when you try to breath....No air conditioning in hotel lobbies, super cold in conference rooms then they cut off the swamper til you die of the heat then back on til it's arctic air!! What fun..
The painted desert was pretty, it had rained that morning. The petrified forest was interesting, the South Rim of the Grand Canyon was impressive, Flagstaff was nice......but........
I think I'll opt for Muire Wooda, Golden Gate Bridge, San Luis Obispo and places like that.

Arizona has bigger bugs so Californie is the place for me.

So its warm...so I had a monsoon rain yesterday and I have another swimming pool in the retention area...so there are too many conservatives...
Its the best place in the US, IMHO. Where else can you can you do things like swim in Phoenix, ski in Flagstaff and see the beautiful red rocks of Sedona in one day?
My house sure is mondo cheaper here, too.

I'm rather partial to Northern Illinois. Who wants to live where you can fry chickens on a the sidewalk? :irollers5

Marble, when I was pregnant with my last kid, I slipped on the ice on myh back porch in Romeoville and fell on my arse really hard..after hubby got me up and made sure I wasn't dead, I made him promise we would move somewhere warm.
I would rather fry the chickens than thaw out my rump roast. :1eek2:

Let's see...
Slip on ice or get bitten by a rattlesnake. Slip on ice or get bitten by a rattlesnake.
Um...
Maybe the best plan is to live wherever you want to but just never leave the house. ;)

GREER, ARIZONA's ALL-TIME high temperature is 86 degrees. Never, in the history of record-keeping, have they EVER gone above that. I wonder why people always equate Arizona with HOT/DRY when half of the state is known for breaking the nation's low temperatures for the day? It's like, umm, America is just dumb. Yeah, has to be, since no place is cooler than Arizona, temp-wise, in the summer. Find me a place cooler, and I'll give you a hundred dollars.

And Flagstaff, Arizona is among the top 5 SNOWIEST cities in the United States, averaging over 110 inches of snow per year. LOL, yes, Arizona is just that "hot dry place". Yeah.

I love to visit both places. There's so much to do in both, and there's tons of natural beauty in both.
But living in CA would mean "going back" for me and I'm not fond of that. I'm also terrified of earthquakes. And AZ (at least the places where I think might be great to live) gets too hot for me to seriously consider it for my home.
Peace,
Sadie

Yes, Arizona is a state of contradictions, but I do love it. When it gets hot enough to fry poultry on the sidewalk, I jump in my 88 degree pool to cool off.
The months of October to June make up for it all...

I liked Arizona. California is too crowded and expensive. It's hard to not have space when you've had it all your life.
I don't think I could ever again give up the midwestern autumns and springs, though. Nothing like it anywhere else, except the northeast, which I also adore (the non-crowded areas). They make the humid summers and frigid winters worth it for me.
