I have deleted my membership to you board. I have had a wonderful time, I admired you, laughed with you, was touched by you, but today, well, the proverbial straw has been broken and I have lost all respect for you. It's been creeping up ever so slowly. Now that my mind is clearer, I see you in a whole different perspective.
My 1st disappointment with you was when you jumped on Ptuny. I miss her. She did nothing wrong, you just got your panties in a wad and she was your victim that day. When things get boring for you, you look to the meek to attack. Don't deny it, it's blatantly obvious to all who know you.
Considering you full name, the entire population of most ezboards knows it. I called a friend of mine who is a infrequent lurker, and SHE knew you name.
You, sir, are a hypocrite. Yes....a H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E.
And yes, you'll come over here and whine and make it all about you, cause in the end, it IS all about you. YOU. You think the sun revolves around YOU. Well let me tell you, it doesn't.
I won't post to this thread again, I am done.
I feel sorry for you.
And I'm not posting this thread to get attention. I wanted to tell you why I left your board. Period.
It's all yours.

Bard is the type of guy who only cares about those who find him wonderful, kind, gracious & accepting of what he posts & how he feels.
To go against him in any way is looking for an ugly reply, threats of banishments, threats of embarrassment, or threats of gang dismembership.
Bard is the type of guy who joins where it's most auspicious to join, and disregards the rest. Bard also understands unacceptance, not to be belived, not to favour, not to care about any of the other __________ you can find.
Bard loves Bard, and never make the mistaken belief that Bard loves anybody else.....okay.

His own posters go up against him...
I don't think you should mock her for being "tearful"--you don't even know whether she is or not. But you do know that she's quitting drinking this week, so if she is tearful, it wouldn't be that surprising. You chose a bad time to pick a fight over nothing with someone you know is vulnerable, and you don't even have the stones to say you were wrong, which you were.
Here, took me about ten seconds to find your full name right on this very site, and I remember you used to post it quite regularly--not long ago, but within the last few months, because that's as long as I've been here, and I used to see you sign your full name to your literary excerpts all the time. (IP's full name appears here under her photos as well.) No one has to search the Net to find it. Shame on you. You've behaved badly toward Julia. She did nothing to deserve this tantrum. You should apologize.

Brad gets slammed again, and bows out of the conversation (does that mean he loses?)
Maybe I'm dense, but it's your full name, it's on another page of this same site, and I'm not sure what difference the date makes. If you've since changed your mind about having your name on these pages, you've had plenty of time to take it off.
Your board, obviously, and you can do what you want, but you can't blame people for getting the wrong idea about using your real name if you're not consistent about it yourself. And I still think that given the inconsistency, and given what a shaky place Julia is in, it would've been the gallant thing to do to remove the name yourself and send her a polite PM telling her you'd rather she didn't use it in the future.
If you're gonna wear the knightly wardrobe, you should try to walk the knightly walk. Just my opinion.

No, I cannot imagine that IP has ever said that to the bard. I can imagine that 25 years ago, when they were first married, IP may have gotten out of line and said, in a horny moment, "give me your cock you sexy boy", and Bard then bannished her from the bedroom for a period of 4 years. Of course, this is just my imagination, but I bet it happened.

I think he's a spoiled little suckwad with a sense of entitlement that's bigger than his brain will ever be. Tantrums at his age, with such regularity indicate (to me anyway) retarded emotional development - spoiled baby boy syndrome (not in the books - it's my own label).
Maybe he should go dig ditches for a few weeks or serve burgers for a miniscule paycheck from a pissy boss to learn that he really isn't the center of any world outside his own boring little mind.
From what I read blues_blvd , Juliatheenia just quoted that her friend said that Rodney (Brad/Bard) sounds like he is bi-polar. She didn't say if that was bad, good, funny or anything else - just that she thought he was bi-polar.
Depression (of any kind) is not a joke and I didn't read that anyone was putting a negative connotation to it. All I read was a friend of Juliatheena's (who has some knowledge) said that Rodney sounds bi-polar.
I would hate to think that we have become so politically correct that we can't even use certain terms.
Personally, I think Rodney shows signs of borderline personality disorder or substance abuse or both. I am not putting a good or bad spin on saying this as it is just my personal opinion from reading his words and his interactions with others.

Judgments of anybody's mental condition from a chat board cannot be done professionally. There are many detailed tests to determine most mental conditions. Some mentally disabled people are able to con even the best of psychiatrists into believing they are quite normal. With today's society, what is normal?
I don't like the Bard. That doesn't mean I'm going to judge his mental condition. Not my place, nor anyone else's.
I sympathize with Juliatheena and what she's going through. I would not pass judgment. However, two wrongs do not make a right. Her own problems right now should not give license to point out other people's problems. Wouldn't you all agree on that?
Agree to not like someone, or to not like how they handle things or post. However, labeling a person (i.e., she said she didn't argue the point of Bard being bipolar) doesn't make a situation better. It only creates more animosity.

My friend lurked on his board for a few months, not a few days. She witnessed the bizarre behaviour patterns.

My point is that you didn't have to broadcast her opinion, (hardly a valid diagnosis). He exhibits bizarre behavior. I'll give you that. However, I find lots of folks on the boards exhibit bizarre behavior in my personal opinion. Doesn't make me right. It also doesn't make me the better person to do so.

Personally, I can't imagine showing a messageboard at which I post (or used to post) to anyone else, except in passing, maybe -- to call someone over to look at a picture, or to read an excerpt from a funny story .. but forwarding a link, asking for an opinion about someone (assuming an opinion was asked for) ... someone who knows nothing other than things written on a board, well that seems a bit extreme from my perspective. And coming back to share a so-called 'expert opinion' that resulted from such a shared link ... well, that takes the cake, too.
Very interesting, the things we learn about others ... certainly a good reminder to choose our friends wisely and to guard our more personal thoughts carefully ... because ... who knows who might be reading it all ...

I'm sure there are many MANY people who study these boards for education and theorizing.
Certainly possible ... it'd be great fodder for seriousl study.
My comments have nothing to do with strangers studying messageboards ... they have to do with so-called members of the community (so-called because it's a strange concept these days, things have changed a lot over the years) .. ... with members of the community sharing their community with strangers ... it would be kind of like if I invited several friends over to dinner and a few days later one of them sent people I didn't even know to my door, in search of 'the woman who burned the pot roast' ...
But that would assume that one considers these boards a form of community, rather than theater, or entertainment. I have a hunch that more fall into the latter categories these days, and there are far fewer who still view these places with any sense of community ...
Interesting, like I said before ... and most enlightening about how some folks think ... and what some think is acceptable, and so on ....
As labels go, I prefer:
Caution -- Container may explode under pressure. Contents may cause irritation.
However, my own label would probably read: Constructed of recycled materials.
:1clap:
Well, I am still going on record to state that I think there is a big difference between judgment and opinion.
Of course - it's all semantics anyhow. I could sit here all day and pick apart posts and state "that's a judgment" or "that's an opinion".
But - we all post our thoughts, opinions and yes, judgments. That is part of posting on a chat board. It's how we post that matters.
And, in MY opinion, Rodney posts like a putz. :D
No offense to anyone here, hell - no offense to Rodney - we agreed to disagree long ago, and we avoid each other (see what happens when I stop "avoiding")!

Why do you say this is a "community," blue? A large community is like a city, where everyone has a civic duty (or is thought to have one; not everyone accepts that), to a smaller one, such as a church or neighborhood. All of them have something in common. Would you consider this to be an OAI community?
I don't see it as a "community" at all. So that's why I'm asking what you mean.

Tek your question deserves more answer than I can give this late at night - I'm on my way offline right now ...
But I will say this for now: the fact that some see it as community and others don't is exactly what makes the difference, in my opinion. For some of us, there truly was an OAI community at one time, and the remnants of that community survive - some here on the ross board, some at other boards scattered about, but it survives and it is a community - with cooperation, help for those in need, and a fairly serious attempt at treating others with respect.
Further explanation (and I would enjoy talking about this later, I think it's an interesting topic) will have to wait until after work tomorrow.

Blue, want to make it a separate thread? Do you think it merits one? Or is this one derailed enough already so that it doesn't matter?

of course I'm doing this backwards ... I should have stuck this note here first before starting the new thread ... anyway, yeah, tek, I started one ... looking forward to hearing what you have to say ... :)

Oh, swell...
TRS has a history of being the de facto dumping ground for every hillbilly toe-sucker Rodney or Hepburn collect during their "membership drives" and then piss-off to the point of manifestoing.
I am SO looking forward to the arrival of ColonelSmashy and his phenomenal wit.
I beg to differ with your statement "FOP" I am not a hill-billy, I am not a Toe-sucker!
I would like to consider myself a rather well educated, intelligent person.
I posted mainly @ IP's board, as it was quiet, and interesting. Then the Brad started taking over, and turned it into his version of intellect (Or lack there-off)
and I left.
Elsewhere, to make a point,
I am diagnosed as being severely bi-polar.
I know what my life was like before Zoloft, and I know what it is like now! I understand and have the common sense to fear what my life would be without my daily dosage of meds.
I see in "Brad" somewhat the same personality as I once had, but I was smart enough to realize that I had a problem and deal with it.
I empathize with him, but we all choose our own path as adults, and we must walk it.
I will not be a party to the rantings of an egomaniac, no matter what the reason!

Way to go Powerhouse, I hope you dont mind sharing a drink with me, I do not (never have) drink alcohol, as I grew up with alcoholic parents.
I have no prob with others drinking, but have a deep fear of ever becomming like them if I have even one drink!
So enjoy, and if I can get you another beer, please yell, I always keep a few libations on hands for friends.

~~P'tuny, I don't know why you chose to bosom my previous remarks to this thread, since they were clearly directed at the anticipated arrival of ColonelSmashy.
Are you he, perchance?
If you aver not, kindly pick up the latest copy of The Weekly Reader and bone up on polynomials...

Fop; If I offended you, please accept my apologies, However you did not make it clear exactly to whom your remarks were intended!
As per....
TRS has a history of being the de facto dumping ground for every hillbilly toe-sucker Rodney or Hepburn collect during their "membership drives" and then piss-off to the point of manifestoing.
(Bolding mine)
You grouped myself, and a few others that I am aware of in this group!
The ones I know about (As well as myself) are not hill-billys/toesuckers either.
If your comment was intended for one person, then have the kindness to make yourself clear.
Without clarity, situations such as these will occur.

If we're thinking of the same guy, he was at the old board for a day or two. He told Ross to fuck of, then left in a huff to find other playgrounds.

Well, Ptuny, what say we perform a cleansing ritual, called How to Start Off on the Wrong Foot and Wind Up on the Right one!
All we have to do is:
1) While standing upright, bend our left legs at the knee and firmly clasp our left ankles with our left hands
2) Hop up and down in a circle on our right feet three times while chanting, "I'm so misunderstood!"
3) Report back to this thread with a pleasant "Howdy-do"
:)
If either of us makes Kashtin laugh while doing so, we win a prize.
