So...they revised it to be nowadays...complete with Koljack, oogy boogies and lame plots. I was disappointed because they left us hanging. BUT..I recognized the dude that plays Koljack....hes the guy that was Lestat in Queen of the Damned.
Overall..I like the old show better. More humor, more detail of the "monsters", better endings.
Anyone else watch it tonight?

I didn't watch the new series but I did enjoy the old one from the 70s starring Gavin What'shisname and the original made-for-TV movies that spawned that series.

Darin Gavin or something like that. Yeah! They even had a quick film of him in there...spliced him in at the water cooler sorta thing and the new koljack was walking by. LOL! That was cool.
Gavin put more humor in it...this dude was way too..well...Lestat-ish. I kept expecting the vampire queen to come whisk him away in the midst of his typing out of reports. LOL
I dont know if Ill watch it again. Didnt grab me enough to pull me from another CSI.

Hey...did you know that X Files was made due to Night Stalker? The concept was so interesting...they had to do it again but with UFO's and FBI as focal points. When xfiles first came on, they did all kinds of weird stuff...then they ruined it by going completely UFO and Aliens. Bummed me out.
IF they make night stalker more like the old one and dont leave us hanging like they did tonight....I may have a new favorite show. But they are gonna have to get their writing butts in gear to pull me from next weeks CSI.

I knew XFiles was modeled on Night Stalker, but I never watched the show. Don't know why, just never tuned in.

The old series was fun. Speaking of which, we just watched Trilogy of Terror to see the little doll chase Karen Blacks crossed eyed face around. It's still such a hoot!

Darren McGavin is the actor's name. Yes, I rather enjoyed the original show. I haven't seen the new one so I can't comment.

I watched about 3 minutes of it, then switched over to CSI. The old Night Stalker used to be one of DH's and my favorites - this one was just too different to hold my interest.

In the minority here as one who didn't appreciate the old series very much and didn't watch the new. I think I like things from the vampire's point of view. heh.
As to Karen Black, that's one of my favorite things she ever did. From here: (http://www.monstersinmotion.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/5948)
This is the Zuni Warrior Doll from the Horror Movie Trilogy Of Terror Staring Karen Black. This edition features a brown skirt(Not Pictured). So, I'm sitting here and they've changed all my morning shows on cable so that Buffy and Angel and Charmed are all screwed up to make way for things like L&O (which I love, but it's on 24/7 somewhere in the world) and that law show with Bobby and the gang.
Anyway, I flip on the SciFi Channel to see if by chance they're running any Xfiles, and there's the old NightStalker. In fact, it looks like a mini marathon - it's running through 4pm left coast time. Thought I'd let you all know.
Not sure why I didn't like it as a youth. It's kind of tongue in cheek good fun. :)
Also, if any of you are big fans, released today (which I suspect is the reason for the marathon):
Kolchak - The Night Stalker (1974) (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B000ATQYWY/qid=1128443585/sr=8-2/ref=pd_bbs_2/103-1333637-4730233?v=glance&s=dvd&n=507846) - I saw this advertised on TV and I believe it's all 20 hours ever made of the original series. The link is to Amazon, not anywhere weird.
Peace,
Sadie

OMG... The Trilogy of Terror! For weeks Dh talked about the doll that chased Karen Black. I've never seen it. I liked Karen Black in Five Easy Pieces.

Night Stalker and Night Gallery were two of my most favorite spooky shows to watch. Old Twilight Zone reruns were great too!
Trilogy of Terror was a campy but scary flick. :1crazy:
Did anyone ever see the movie about two girls at a sleepover making crank phone calls? They would call people and say, "I know what you did last night," and hang up. Turns out they called a dude who had killed his wife and he tracks down the hapless teens to kill them in return. Anyone remember the name of the movie?
Also, there was a movie about a boy whose mother died and he continued to live their house, until a new family moved in, bywhich time he had walled off a section of the home where he live unbeknownst to the new family. He develops a crush on a daughter and takes her hostage in his hidey hole. Anyone recall the title of that one?

I loved the Night Stalker then and when it was on TRIO last year.
Then Comcast dropped TRIO the bastards! :1cryhard:
I really want it back. Concerts, Laugh-in, Night Stalker to mention a precious few.
Oh well, Comcast don't listen ta me. :1cryhard:
