I see the Stones are on tour again, and that made me start thinking about concerts ... would love to hear about some of the ones you've been to - or the ones you WISH you'd seen ...
I saw the Rolling Stones in 1975 and the opening acts where Chaka Khan w/Rufus and the Eagles ...
Haven't seen the Stones again, but I did watch the crew set up their stage at the old Jack Murphy (Qualcomm) Stadium in San Diego in the late 90's ... wanted to get an 'I Saw The Stones Crew Building the Stage' tee-shirt, heh ...
Saw Jethro Tull in the mid-70's ... Passion Play tour ...
LMAO, saw Grand Funk Railroad in 1970 ... saw a bunch of people at a 3-day concert when those were popular (no - not THAT 3-day concert, lol) ... Butterfield Blues Band, Ted Nugent and the Amboy Dukes ... saw REO Speedwagon when they were a bar band and still doing covers of other people's hits .. saw Johnny Winter and thought he looked like a god ..
I think my prime concert-going years were 1969-1976 or so ... my age is showing here, that's okay ... I want to hear your stories ... my DH tells grand stories about SF in the late 60's and the people he saw back then ...
Then there are the shows I didn't get to see ... Grateful Dead (always meant to, just never did) ... Jimi & Janis ... the Doors ...
Saw the Moody Blues when they were old and chubby ... but they still sounded great ... I knew my concert-going-days were drawing to an end at that show, though ... I couldn't sit in the rafters because of the smoke in the air ... had to go down and sit with the old people, well below the smokeline, heh ...
