Ok, what do ya honestly think of Velvet Revolver?

Does this band have some staying potential, or another flash in the pan?

I'm digging on the whole 2 scoops of different but harmonious ice cream sundae thang.

Gn'R + STP amalgam-ism. It works for me, you?

Weiland is looking like an Iggy Pop incarnation in VR ... did he "flow" like that in STP shows? Unreal. Only saw STP unplugged. Weiland is still lookin' a bit like a herion junkie around the edges. :( Sorta Johnny Rotten ...

Watch that and tell me you think they are any good...

Weiland stopped singing like Eddie Vedder, and now sings like Rob Halford with laryngitis and ben wah balls in his ass.

I'm not crazy about Velvet Revolver at all... it could be the name, but I'm not digging on their sound either which is disappointing to me because I love Slash, I think he's a genius. I really liked GnR and STP but together they're not doing it for me. For all of the talent they should have they just don't Rock.

I think I have something against bands that break up and become other bands, Audioslave is another that comes to mind. blech.

TR ... ok, that sound quality sucks.

Not a stellar performance at all. You got me there.

It's all too common for a band to sound great produced and totally suck live.

G n' R and Van Halen for 2 notable examples.

As a comparison, give this a listen: Fall to Pieces (http://www.mtv.com/sitewide/apps/mediaplayer/index.jhtml?vid=35266&orgID=2&gateway=news&paid=1237277&section_0=news&section_1=articles&section_2=1500834&section_3=20050427&section_4=story.jhtml&refURL=/news/articles/1500834/20050427/story.jhtml&adPth=/adsetup/news/articles/&adPN=story).

In case the link doesn't play, it's from this MTV article (http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1500834/20050427/story.jhtml).

I'm not impressed with Velvet Revolver, either. I had hoped for better, given the personnel, but they ain't doing it for me. To my ears, the music is just, hell, I dunno, "juvenile" keeps coming to mind, but that seems nastier than I mean.

Audioslave, OTOH, is doing it for me, big time. I just love the first album, and will probably get the second. Maybe cuz I never liked Rage, as a band, I'm pleasantly surprised by what they do with a frontman, like Cornell--and I'm nuts about his singing.

I was never really big on GNR or STP so VR really doesn't do much for me.

I was a huge GNR fan and really big on both STP and Soundgarden. Both of these hybrid bands are not really what I hoped for, and I guess they really cannot live up to their pasts. I do think Chris Cornell still has it...funny, little twerpy looking guy but he sure can sing!

Axel is still a jerk...some things never change. ;)

I like VR, but not as much as I did GnR or STP. I simply adore Scott Weiland, so it's great seeing him again, and I do truly hope that he is clean and sober. I don't much care for Audioslave, but I never really like Rage either....Soundgarden is whole nother story though. I've seen them a few times in concert, and nothing will beat watching them just a few weeks after Kurt Cobains death and the way they performed that day as a tribute to him.
