My twins (16) have a band. They have had 2 paying gigs so far, and have a huge one coming up in November. 200+ in attendance so far & rising. They do covers (Elliot Smith, NIN, Tool, White Stripes, Foo Fighters etc) and also originals.

Does anyone know any unusual ways to entertain the crowd? Like between songs or sets? I saw one band a few months ago that had contests between sets. The crowd seemed to love it.

Also they are making up cd's of their originals. Think they should sell them or just pass them out?

Any advice for them at all would be appreciated. I'm very proud of them & they are truly talented. The originals are amazing.

I think they should sell the CD's for at least $5 each, maybe a little more. Then at future gigs they can raise the price. They might want to consider t-shirts, as well.

I saw a band once that had a magic act between sets. It was awesome. Contests are good, too. Anything that'll keep the crowd focused on the stage.

Its at a huge paintball place here. They are having a 3 day convention type thing with people from all over the U.S. Little over 200 signed up so far. They'll be playing on a Friday night. It will be a lot of teens & their parents.

Yes, contests would probably go over better with that crowd than magic tricks. Every loves to compete and win stuff, too. They could use CD's and t-shirts as the prizes, too, and maybe get one really, really good prize for the last contest of the night -- something along the lines of a cool paintball accessory.
