We just watched this really neat film ... okay, so it has a few cornball graphics, but overall, it's just mind-blowing stuff ...

Film ( http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0399877/)

full of people like this ...

Fred Alan Wolf (http://www.fredalanwolf.com/)

and

Amit Goswami (http://twm.co.nz/goswam1.htm)

and

John Hagelin (http://www.lightstreamers.com/John_Hagelin.htm)

and

William A Tiller (http://www.tiller.org/)

and

Jeffrey Satinover (http://www.satinover.com/main.htm)

and

Candace Perth (http://www.millenniumhealthcentre.com/art21.htm)

Lots of food for lots of thought ...

Oh! and this guy, too - who did the experiements with water and photographing water crystals that had been communicated to ...

Dr Masaro Emoto (http://www.hado.net/DrMasaruEmoto.html)

yes - quantum physics - can be fun...!

i've been reading about it for many years...

thanks too - for the fred alan wolf link - he had another site - some years back - but then - he shut it down - and - i lost track of him...

p.s. hmmm - that natural law party - though - (one of your other links) - kinda strange - imo - and - some of the others - (seem a bit loopy to me) - but - i still like wolf - i'm really - more scientifically oriented - and - less - magically oriented - although still - the esoterical / mystical - does interest me...

p.p.s. kazoo - i definitely don't like that satinover guy - did you read that stuff he says about homosexuality - ? - (he's against it - and - is looking for some kind of a "fix" - for it)...

p.p.p.s. kazoo - yep - that's him - i knew that was him - he's a good friend of doctor laura schlessinger - ferfreakinsakes...!

p.p.p.p.s...

gee - up all night talking to myself again...

kazoo - i wanted to explain - what i meant - up there - about being more - scientifically oriented - than - magically oriented - (although - i do know magic works - sometimes) - anyway - maybe - what i mean - really - is that - i'm practical minded...

a very famous witch - said it well - when asked once - if she could do some magic - in order to find a buyer - for a couple - who wanted to sell their house...

she told them - that it would be - more practical - and - much easier - to just post a want ad - in a newspaper...

- edit typo...

and also - hey - i really wanted to get to my - 600th post - tonight - yahoo...!

- now i can sleep g'night...

oh dusa, I KNEW you would be up on all this stuff already ... I am so glad you found this post ...

All of them were very interesting in the film - which didn't get into specifics of any of the stuff on their web pages -- I just added all the links cuz it gave an idea of who these people were ...

Couldn't pick Satinover out of the crowd right now without watching it again ...

All I know is that the entire experience was so upbeat and positive and we were sitting here nodding as they were talking ... because it's stuff we've been saying here together for years and finally here were these really smart people, talking about it too ...

Did you look at the water guy? Now some of it is pretty far-out, but overall I think there is much truth in the basic stuff ...

Fred Alan Wolf? Yes. He was my favorite too - he has a blog out there somewhere, now some of his stuff is pretty way-out-there, too, but they just get ya so excited cuz they're talking about this stuff ... and they're willing to discuss any possibilities, which really is quite a switch from the way people talk lately, almost as if everything is already done and over and decided and there's nothing new ...

Here were all of these well educated, successful scientific minds, talking about endless possibilities ...

There were some real crackpots too that I didn't even mention - Ramtha was there - remember her? Can't remember her real name this early in the morning ... anyway, even the crackpots had positive things to say about the topics they were discussing ....

Oooh, I am so glad to wake up and find you here, talking about this ... last night I told DH, 'Dusa will know about these people, she already will know about this stuff' ...

woot. :8heartbea

congrats on the 600th post ...

oh and I think ALL of it is magical when you think about it ... I've believed for years in the plant stuff they were doing in the 60's - how yelling at plants would make them die and talking nicely to them would make them thrive ... I think they're really on to something with all this 'thought' stuff .... I don't think magic is anything more than learning to channel energy in a specific way ... haha, at the ad in the paper, yeah, sometimes it's just easier to do it the 'regular' way ... heh ...

That's why (even tho he's kinda strange) I was excited to see the water guy mentioned in the film ... his photos of water crystals after they were talked to just blow your mind .... I was reading some of his stuff last night, and he talks about saying 'Thank You' to water ... etc ... and I'm thinking, 'yeah, people will think this is nuts, but it's more about how everything is connected and it's more about sending out positive thought and positive healing energy' ... a lot of it is in the practices I get in email every so often, too ... you know, to practice this thought, it would appear that a great deal of this follows the Eastern ways, Buddhism in particular ... that made me really happy too, because I've thought for a good long while that Buddhism is probably closest to anything real (for me) than anything else I've found over the years ...

In the film last night they talked about how a group of people reduced violent crime in an area by 25% with positive thought ...

oh people will think i'm a crackpot now ... but I'll just tell them I'm a quantum theorist ... bwhahahah

actually i'm so old I don't care what they think anymore anyway ... I will be a purple-wearing quantum theorist ... nothing else has worked to make things better so far ... I mean why NOT talk to water, eh?

Gotta get ready for work ... see ya later, dusa ... and everybody ..

The first time I watched the film, I was totally engrossed. Stunned. Amazed! :1eek2:

Then I got to the credits at the end, and felt very mis-lead.

The woman they interviewed is the leader of the Ramtha School of Enlightenment (http://www.ramtha.com). While I don't have anything against Ramtha, I felt that this should've been mentioned upfront, because the film led you to believe she was some sort of expert in quantum physics (or related) field. I watched the movie again based on that information, and it suddenly felt like an hour-and-a-half infomercial for Ramtha.

I did some research on the movie itself, and read reviews on the movie, and apparently a lot of the information they presented as factual, is just fantasy or only partly true.

They have a What the Bleep Website (http://www.whatthebleep.com/), by the way.

Here's some NetFlix Reviews (http://www.netflix.com/MovieDisplay?movieid=70011191&trkid=189530).

It was fascinating from the entertainment standpoint, but misleading if one is expecting a scientific documentary.

Yes, I saw the whatthebleep website - it mostly looked like a lot of stuff for sale, so I moved right on past it ...

I didn't go into the film expecting it to be anything in particular ... I was disappointed in the special effects, cuz I didn't think they were necessary, though I liked the ones of the thunderstorms in the brain, lol ...

I've been reading, too, about the Ramtha connection - now I think Ramtha is a total crackpot, and I know that the producers had some Ramtha connection, but that doesn't take away the credentials of any of the others ... and it doesn't have to discredit any of the rest of it (for me) ...

I think what was exciting about seeing it was that they were willing to discuss things out of the normal circle of commonly held belief ...

I get home early today and will probably watch it again, mostly because I want to catch some of the other names of some of the participants ...

The little storyline throughout was the hokiest part to me - well, that and the silly effects ... I would have been happier just listening to the participants talk about their ideas ...

If I watch it again, I'll post a second-viewing thought, though I'm still excited as heck to see people talking about possibilities ...

I don't think any of it can be considered 'factual' since it's all theoretical ... but I think it's important to think about theoretical stuff and all the what-ifs .. it's from the what-ifs that breakthroughs are born ... thinking outside the box and all that ...

Glad to hear from someone else that has seen this ... we got it at the library (we get most of our DVD's there) and had never heard about it until last night ...

kazoo - my approach to this stuff - or rather - (i've read studied some of this - but - i need to study - lots more) - what i think is - the best approach to it - is this:

to - thoroughly study - what - max planck - (considered - the inventor of quanum theory) - neils borh / david bohm / werner heisenberg / enrico ferme / eric von nuemann / etc. - i mean - the original scientists - who came up with - all this stuff - study what they say - about - quantum physics...

and - yeah - i'm talking about - real - heavy - hard - science...

and - no - i do not undertand it all...

still - i think - one needs to - (!!!...thoroughly...!!!) - familiarise oneself - with all these people - and - their theories - and - i really do mean - as thoroughly - as possible - to - !!!...emerge...!!! - oneself in their theories - to !!!...try...!!! - to understand the math - and - if one stumbles - !!!...get back up...!!!

continue - study it again - and - again - next week - or ten years later - and then - ten more years - again...

eventually - even if it seems - at first - very hard to understand - it will - become clearer...

to look at - the hard science - as closely as possible - to try to understand it...

also - to know - know them well - the scientists - (and - okay maybe other people too) - to know - who - is saying what - as well...

i mean - !!!...know them well...!!!

track down - every single bio - on them - that is available...

and also - always - question everything...

also - i think it's important to keep this in mind - there are a number of real provable scientific experiments - which have been conducted - in the field of quantum physics - however - much of what is discussed - within the field of quantum physics - is still - theoretical...

something else - which i think is also very important - is to - try not to get caught up in wild goose chases - nor - jump on bandwagons...

one more thing - i think it's important to remember - that just because - one might want to believe - that something is so - or - because - some thing - seems - appealing in some way - seems perhaps - to strike a chord - with ones - (inner...?) - sensibilities - or - just seems to - feel right - that really truly does not - prove a thing...

proof needs - checking up on - proof needs - testing / repeatable experimentation - proof needs - quantifiable results...

when - some person - or - another - comes along - and - says something about - "quantum physics"...

see - how well - it matches - up to:

...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...HARD SCIENCE...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

i just - can not - i feel - i can not - stress the importance of this - adequately enough...

that's why - i'm using all these - silly - explanation points - all over the place - um - sorry...

anyway - that's just what i think - about how to go about it - i think more - but - heck - hahahaha - i could write a whole book - about - what i think - but - i just don't want to - sheesh - i mean - what a - silly / whacky - idea...!

also - i'd feel like - i was pretending to be - some kind of - know it all - and - i am - not...

and - yes - i do think - possibly - that this does - in some way - relate to buddhism - (then again - you know me - i think that everything is related - in all sorts of varying ways - and - degrees) - anyway - i wrote a little bit more - about some of this - and - some of the things - i think about it - earlier today - in the - daily zen part deux thread - at gt...

- a good afternoon to you... :)

p.s. oh - i forgot - the stuff about water - you asked - what i thought - (and - oh yeah - concerning plants - i agree - very interesting) - anyway - i glanced at that - concerning water - and - yes - water certainly does - interest me - very much so - but - i didn't really read it - very closely - what that person said about it - but - i will take a look at it - later on / again / sometime - (and - yes - i will read it - thoroughly - hahaha)...

p.s. kazoo - before i forget - i also wanted to explain my use of the term - "magic" - i mean - an awareness - and - an ability - to work with the - natural - (not some outside phenomena)...

This girl I know out west loves this movie (I thought it was okay), and she actually reads quantum physics books for fun. Not my bag, but I try to at least pretend I'm paying attention when she talks about it. :2headspin
