As God as my witness, I'll never go hungry again.
No one had a cushier birth than we did. It's not surprising our friendship could survive that. It's only out there in the real world that it gets tough.
You know, at one time, I used to break into pet shops to liberate the canaries. But I decided that was an idea way before its time. Zoos are full, prisons are overflowing... oh my, how the world still dearly loves a cage.
When it gets hot like this, you know what I do? I keep my undies in the icebox!
Well... When I'm good, I'm very good. But, when I'm bad... I'm better.
What are your five favorite pieces of art in your home (or just any decorative items - doesn't have to be hoity toity stuff)?
juliatheena
09-05-2005, 12:26 PM
1) Oil painting of roses, circa 1968, painted by my mother. I can clearly remember her easel sitting in our kitchen, painting away while we watched.
2) Twin desk lamp with crystal prisms, assembeled by my mother in 1948. She moved to So. Calif in 1947 and worked in a high-end lamp store in Pasadena. The movie stars would come there to have custom lamps made. This said lamp sat on my dad's desk for years. The sun would shine through the prisms and cast rainbows all over the room. It was/is a magical lamp.
4) Kitschy ceremic flamingo figurine that was my DH's late Grandma YaYa's. It stands about 9" tall and is kinda/sorta pretty, but sentimental wise, it's pretty cool
5) A gorgeous clear glass dish made entirely of recycled materials. It was a gift from a friend this last July, for my b-day. He purchased it in Seattle at this little boutique that only sold artist represented items. I lOVE IT!

I don't know if any of this stuff makes me unique because I'm not the only person with any of these characteristics, but...
1. I line my dishes up in size order before I wash them.
2. I can spend a lot of time alone w/little or no human contact.
3. I'm loyal to a fault. I can't be coerced into it, but once I've committed to a friend, family member, lover, etc., I'm fierce. I've gotten my ass burned a number of times by this.
4. Music doesn't mean that much to me.
5. I can hear things no one else does. I'm not talking about voices (that's a given LOL). I mean like I can be across the house and hear the little click that the oven makes when someone has forgotten to turn it off (same with the coffee maker).

A local realtor because he's really good at what he does and I'd like to have first crack at new listings or even to know when something's been sitting and the owner is getting antsy.
About 10 people online, but if I name them, then I run the risk of leaving someone out or hurting someone's feelings, so I'm not gonna. :)
