sadie999
09-05-2005, 11:26 AM
As God as my witness, I'll never go hungry again.

No one had a cushier birth than we did. It's not surprising our friendship could survive that. It's only out there in the real world that it gets tough.

You know, at one time, I used to break into pet shops to liberate the canaries. But I decided that was an idea way before its time. Zoos are full, prisons are overflowing... oh my, how the world still dearly loves a cage.

When it gets hot like this, you know what I do? I keep my undies in the icebox!

Well... When I'm good, I'm very good. But, when I'm bad... I'm better.

What are your five favorite pieces of art in your home (or just any decorative items - doesn't have to be hoity toity stuff)?

juliatheena
09-05-2005, 12:26 PM
1) Oil painting of roses, circa 1968, painted by my mother. I can clearly remember her easel sitting in our kitchen, painting away while we watched.

2) Twin desk lamp with crystal prisms, assembeled by my mother in 1948. She moved to So. Calif in 1947 and worked in a high-end lamp store in Pasadena. The movie stars would come there to have custom lamps made. This said lamp sat on my dad's desk for years. The sun would shine through the prisms and cast rainbows all over the room. It was/is a magical lamp.

4) Kitschy ceremic flamingo figurine that was my DH's late Grandma YaYa's. It stands about 9" tall and is kinda/sorta pretty, but sentimental wise, it's pretty cool

5) A gorgeous clear glass dish made entirely of recycled materials. It was a gift from a friend this last July, for my b-day. He purchased it in Seattle at this little boutique that only sold artist represented items. I lOVE IT!

I don't know if any of this stuff makes me unique because I'm not the only person with any of these characteristics, but...

1. I line my dishes up in size order before I wash them.

2. I can spend a lot of time alone w/little or no human contact.

3. I'm loyal to a fault. I can't be coerced into it, but once I've committed to a friend, family member, lover, etc., I'm fierce. I've gotten my ass burned a number of times by this.

4. Music doesn't mean that much to me.

5. I can hear things no one else does. I'm not talking about voices (that's a given LOL). I mean like I can be across the house and hear the little click that the oven makes when someone has forgotten to turn it off (same with the coffee maker).

Thank you Therp! Knew one of you REAL men would come thru.....and protect Sadie's honor in the process! ;)

Right now....I wish i hadn't bought the house I am living in for a few more days! :1finger1: mortgage & insurance companies!

There is a certain 1977 El Camino that "was supposed to be" a restoration project....it now is a flower planter somewhere!

And similarly.....a 1962 Caddy convertible that I gave up on after spending $500 on just the engine & still couldn't get it to crank! POS :1hepbomb1

Dragging home the cute little siamese~tabby mix kitten that seemed soooo sweet-n-innocent....little bastard turned into a combination of a complete kLutZ & terror.....really think it was a drag queen in its last life! :1both:

And there is a certain 12 unit apartment complex in West Virginia AND a 2600 sf, 90 year old, needed rehabed, house in Ohio that were the 2 worst $1 down real estate deals I ever got into. :(

Now.....how about the last 5 things you actually wrote a real life check for???

{quote=sadie999]Five relationships you wish you'd walked away from before they even happened.[/quote]I value each and every relationship I've ever been involved in, for the learning experience if nothing else. :) The only one I'd really change if I could would be having extremely wealthy parents, although I'd keep the same ones, just have them have a lot more money. :D:D

But I can list five anyway:

That's tough because I usually pretty much accept what people put out.

A local realtor because he's really good at what he does and I'd like to have first crack at new listings or even to know when something's been sitting and the owner is getting antsy.

About 10 people online, but if I name them, then I run the risk of leaving someone out or hurting someone's feelings, so I'm not gonna. :)

That's eleven, so... :D
