Is anyone familiar with this area of Southern California? I'd be grateful for any information and/or opinions.

Thanks :)
Margaret

Yes, it's about 25 miles from me and I've antiqued there often. What sort of info would you like to know?

Oh, thanks so much for answering. I'm wondering about the neighborhoods. Safety, traffic, etc. Particularly the areas around CHOC.

Orange is a quaint, safe and mostly quiet city around the downtown (Orange Circle) area. I can't say that I know much about the area around CHOC and am not quite sure I even know where that is. :1angelica It is a lovely area with many nice older homes--rare in Orange County.

Traffic everywhere in So. California is dreadful, including Orange. Unfortunately I believe that nearly everything that can be done has been done in terms of making it better. We're just out of room for expansion of roads, yet we keep building and letting more people move in.

I'm a bit brain-dead today, so let me know if there's anything else I can answer!

I lived there for 14 years 3P.

Anaheim, Fullerton, Costa mesa, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Garden Grove, Westminster.....etc.

Orange (the city) lays on the southeastern side of the major development in Orange County. Yet, the entire area is just one big city. The only way you know you leave one town and go to the next is the sign on the freeway telling you what city you're in.

Orange County is about the same as living in LA county. If you're trying to stay away from a metroplex type environment......LA and Orange counties are NOT the place to go.

The 57 or "Newport" freeway borders the western side of the city of Orange. Anaheim Stadium and The Pond are there. To the east is where you'll find the more rural look MR is talking about.

Orange has a downtown very much like the "Town Squares" we are used to here in West Texas. It really has a flavor very much as MR describes.

All in all.....glad I moved back to Texas. :)

Sorry, memory fails me sometimes. I believe the Newprt freeway is the 55.
