So what's up with the ex-Ethicals? Did the coder that was remaining return to school? Are all of the tools up and running? Have any of the wronged parties filed a lawsuit? Been in touch with the FRENCH FRY EATING FREAK?
Any word on the Runescape and the get-your-parents-credit-card-number-so-i-can-make-millions thing? Seems the whole thing just died out and many of the owners are still locked out with nothing.

More action on this thread. Looks like the tool gets to say.

TR says:
The word is that this tool has received final approval from eBay.
Wow.
This practically ensures that the price increase in January will be a duration listing increase.
Thanks everyone, for playing "eBay screws the small sellers first, then screws all sellers, equally."
With special thanks to "Ethical" and PeSA for all they have done to make this moment possible.

Sharronn speaks out against TR:
Don't forget to give yourself a huge pat on the back for your part in any increased duration fees we may see. Next time, maybe Crusader Rabbit should ponder the possible consequence of his actions BEFORE he goes on the warpath against someone he dislikes!
Roundabout says:
Yeah, I find it rather pathetic that people would suggest that it's your fault for speaking out, remind me of the bully mentality that one takes their beatings and doesn't complain for fear of worse beatings.
A trend I'm seeing on this site is people who are angry and bitter at eBay are channeling that anger towards others who are not to blame. I don't understand the denial except for the fact that people do not want to feel that they rely on a corporation so imcompetently run.

AND, this most interesting post:
anyone going after Bobby over this for "blowing the whistle" is full of it.
Bobby I personally want to thank you for bringing this to my attention.
I started using the Sage one almost 3 weeks ago on both seller accounts and the results speak for themselves.
Most items are getting at least a 500% increase in views, with some higher than that, a lot higher which translates into sales. My guess, that is what sellers like. More sells please. I am guessing come the prime Christmas selling season, it will make a rather nice bump in sales.
Do/Say what you like. The damn thing works, and this is coming from a seller who didn't care one iota for the sellers that was using the PESA tool.
Ebay's football, eBay's field - I will use them till I no longer can't

So... even if ETHICAL's 'sell-thru' tool is allowed to stay on eBay, it looks like there's already competition for it out there (that Sage site being one). Any of you know how many other OAI-related companies are offering *some* version of this tool?

I'm more or less out of online selling now, but as a buyer, I see this doing what commercials do - saturating my brain 'til I no longer look.
I guess this is working for sellers, so more power to them. But for me, it will just be annoying to search in a given category only to see something I passed on come up in "ending soonest" four times in a week. No big. My pockets aren't all that deep and I have impulse contral. :)
Sigh... Why must the purveyors of product eventually resort to annoying potential customers to distraction? It must work on someone.

As a seller of more or less unique-ish type items (in the Ebay realm anyway), I have long been concerned by the underlying principal of what Sadie has expressed. However, it has to be remembered that Ebay, Effical and particularly PeSA has no real vested interest in the collectible market. All three entities want to see sell through of bulk product in a faux-retail market place. Putting cheap product in front of a retail type buyer creates turnover, even if the market has limited sustainability. These entities have no interest in the unique, the used, the unusual or the other stuff which made Ebay a more interesting place to browse than K-Mart - and they don't care if potential buyers or enthusiasts can not find my stuff.
Why should they be bothered by "annoying potential customers to distraction", when they are in a marketplace that is currently supplying several million more potential customers than almost any other marketplace they have access to? It doesn't matter how many you spurn, provided that there is a steady flow of those who take the bait.

Hi Everyone,
I've been working with people in our Trust and Safety teams and the Developers Program to clarify this issue. Just wanted to share their thinking and to let you know that it's OK to use the Auction Extender tool for now.
The question of allowing/disallowing the Auction Extender tool has been a complex issue for us to address. The bottom line for eBay is whether a new tool could have unintended consequences that could harm the marketplace. We were worried about the tool's potential use as a method for manipulating search results by allowing sellers to change an item's duration so that it appears in "items ending soonest" as often as possible.
That said, the ability to change the duration of a listing has legitimate uses, for example in the event of major site issues and other rare situations. This function is already available manually on eBay.
We have decided to allow the use of the Ethical Auction Extender tool for now, and we'll continue to review and analyze its use over the next 3-6 months to ensure that it is not harming the marketplace.
We apologize for any confusion this may have caused.
Regards,
Nino

Translation: We are still looking for a way to milk this tool for evey penny we can. If we can find a way to do it we will allow the tool to continue, if not we will kill it. Give us about 6 months to come up with a way.
Toy and other need to spread the word across ebay. and how to do it refering to that thread. :1both:

So--if it gets to stay, are they welcoming new members to the system yet? Or is the tool remaining unlisted on their site? I haven't had time to check (fighting with my internet connection, and only the Ross Show seems to be loading OK). LOL.
"and only the Ross Show seems to be loading OK). LOL."
We are working on taking the whole internet over give us time. Muhahahhhaha.

TR-I'm guessing the college kid is working remotely from school.
Pure speculation:
eBay will try to buy the tool, which even barely competent due diligence will tank.
eBay will flat out take it.

Was this "college kid" one of the unpaid, Ramen-eating coders? Why on earth would they continue working for Ethical if they have gotten the hell away from that place?
