<insert mystery-type background music of your choice here>
Do you know anything about powder horns?
Do you know anything about museums?
Do you know anything about American History?
Do you know anything about web searching?
Do you know anything about insurance or the law?
Do you live in upperstate New York and have heard stories or read newspaper accounts of fire/theft/gossip?
Are you curious or looking for a diversion?
If so, YOU (yes YOU) may be able to find a clue to help solve
THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING POWDER HORN
(said in a loud booming echo for effect ;) )
For the background story click here (http://home.earthlink.net/~unique.inside/ebay/horn/story.jpg)
For the first letter from the museum click here (http://home.earthlink.net/~unique.inside/ebay/horn/acceptance.jpg)
For the donation reciept click here (http://home.earthlink.net/~unique.inside/ebay/horn/reciept.jpg)
For the inscription on the horn click here (http://home.earthlink.net/~unique.inside/ebay/horn/inscription.jpg)
The handwriting at the bottom of the note saying the horn was still on display in 1983 is my grandmother's. We are not certain if she actually saw it, or called the museum and they told her it was there.
Obviously this is a "cold case" however, any help easing my mother's worries would be greatly appreciated and may even lead to a reward if the horn is located. :)
