which is not permitted at eBay.

This is a copy of your post:

Being held hostage

What A crock of shit! I have been trying to close my account because
I do not agree with the new user agreement and I flatout don¡¦t think
eBay is a safe to buy. I went through all the proper links and have
done it TWICE now and all I get is a Form letter that looks like a
HUMAN BEING sent it. A differnet first name has been inserted in
each reply. TWO replies to the FIRST request (same letter but with a
different name inserted.
Well anyway here is the bottom line! I have done the so called
proper procedure according too eBay¡¦s worthless system and all I get
is a damned computer response so I have no choice but to do things
MY way!
First of all, for the record I want to state it again:
I NO LONGER AGREE WITH EBAY¡¦S USER AGREEMENT, EFFECTICE of NOW.
Generalmedia-sys

Note: some of the top ### power sellers really should take this VERY
seriously.
NUFF SAID

Well almost enough said. I had the misfortune of turning on the TV
and the Martha Stewart show was on. Before I had a chance to change
the station Martha Stewart introduced (as she put it) me best
friend. None other than the CEO of eBay, Meg Witman,
Geee¡¦s eBay is under control of some one that hangs out with KNOWN
CONVINCED FELLONS,
Now THAT IS enough said!
Night ļ

Give me a little credit rOss. At least I post my email down here in BAD BAD things.

Ebay will keep your account open intil the sun stop shining forever. They may even ad a day after that.

Only way to get them to close it is to keep pestering them right up to the office of the president.

Baloney.

It takes 180 days from the date you fill out the "close account" form until the account is actually closed. In the meantime, the account is frozen and you cannot bid, sell, leave feedback, or change your contact info.

So just wait 180 days (that's six months) and then check to see if it's been closed. Since the account is frozen, you don't have to worry about hijackers, nor do you have to worry about the user agreement, since you won't be using the account.

The waiting period is required in case any fraud reports are filed in the interim period (they take some time to resolve, obviously), and I suspect they want to give users a chance to change their mind before finalizing it, although they don't specify that.

Actually, I can get an account closed within 7 days providing there hasn't been any recent activity on the account...

Bullshit.

Roy, it's no wonder you are sanctioned from the eBay boards.

Over the years, I have closed several accounts.
None took longer than 21 days to be closed.
One was gone in six days.

"7 days providing there hasn't been any recent activity on the account..."

With an obit on the boards and me page, and posible lawer contact.

If it has any good feedback they will wait over the prescribed time. I hope they have changed it.

As for the Add, well what do you expect with troll ids for the boards, they are glad to close them.
