Post interesting attractions from your area.
McGee's Castle - Raymond, MS

This guy got carried away hauling in rocks to his yard.
"The castle began as a modest A-frame house in the mid-1970s".
He died about a week or so ago of a heart attack. Too bad.

Byram Swinging Bridge
Bridge where I sometimes go sit in the middle and eat a sandwich. It's closed to traffic now but I remember driving across it.

Too many to mention in Chicagoland, however one that I rather like driving through is Fermilab. Yep I'm a nerd! Went down into the accelerator rings in 1997 in their first open day in 14 years. Hugely geeky thing to do, and highly interesting. Even though my Mum kept saying "but why do they do it?" Heh heh. Fun seeing buffalo herds too. What am I talking about? Click below.

Meridian, Mississippi
Dunn's Falls, near Meridian Mississippi, rich with Civil War history and where Stetson learned to make hats. A 65 foot waterfall, mill, and public catfishing attraction. You are allowed to swim in the falls and I'm told there are great off-road biking trails.

While nearby, go over to Meridian and ride the 110 year old Dentzel Carousel worth over a million dollars and complete with pipe organ for only 50 cents.

I spent a summer there as a child and my main memory is of taking swimming lessons there every Saturday and after the lesson riding the carousel. At the time the park also housed a small zoo and had a balloon vendor. It still has a fantastic olympic size public swimming pool.
Much more to see and do around Meridian: http://www.visitmeridian.com/attractions.htm

I didn't mention that at Port Gibson (Windson Ruins above) there's one of the best Civil War Museums around. Right next door to it you can tour a nuclear power plant; then within only a few feet's drive have a night out on the town at a highly trafficked yet sleezy topless bar. (My guess is that this one would also be bottomless, slightly radioactive, and include party favors.)
How you explain the glow to the wife after returning from a civil war tour with the boys, I'm not sure.

It's called glitter. They use it at all the CW re-enactments.
