It's a matter of choice, R0ss! eBay gives one choice when one ends their account:

No Longer A Registered User

isn't that odd? They also offer "vacation" status. That's it. No other choice.

We contacted eBay on September 14, 2006 and asked that our accounts be closed for legal reasons. Until eBay programs their system to allow for comments such as:

"Customer closed their store on ____________"

our acct. will reflect:

No Longer A Registered User

just like every other store owner who's ended their account for whatever reason.

If eBay changed, and allowed for a more accurate description other than "vacation" when one wants to leave eBay, perhaps we will consider it. For now, there is no other choice.

For more info. we did break the news......

Interesting story... regarding eBay hackers: One should have advised this person to close his eBay accounts, rather than mock his inquiry....

My account got hacked! Tell police?

Somebody hacked into my account today and listed an item. I found it before anybody bid on it, reported it to ebay, changed my passwords on my email, ebay account and paypal account and cancelled my associated credit card. How do I report this to the authorities and take legal action?

Take legal action?

Against who? Some faceless scammer sitting in some internet cafe in Eastern Europe?

You might think that's a harsh answer, Lorraine, but it's a true answer and you know it. Nobody is going to prosecute that guy's trivial problem, because it happens all the time, far too often to take seriously, and the person(s) responsible may or may not even exist, and if they do exist they likely can't be tracked down or if they can be tracked down they are tracked to a country that doesn't give a shit.

I have a question, and you don't have to answer it if you don't want to, since your eBay status is none of my business, but how did you manage to close your eBay account when their policy states, in part:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/account/closing-account.html

Note that if you choose to unregister from eBay and close your account, it cannot be reopened. We hope you will contact us (http://cgi1.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=InlineSelfHelpWebfor m&wftype=2001&rcode=GS%25S00128&subject=Account%20Closure%20Request&bcrumb=+Home+%3E+Help+Topics+%3E%A0Account+Informa tion+and+Billing%A0%3E%A0Managing+Your+eBay+Member +Account%A0%3E%A0Closing+Your+eBay+Account&instruction=&expirationDate=) to address any issues that may have prompted you to close an account or unregister from eBay.
To close your account permanently, please submit a formal request to close your account (http://cgi1.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?CloseAccount).

Notes

If you've listed or bid on an item recently, eBay requires a waiting period of 180 days before closing your account. During the waiting period, you

won't be able to bid, make purchases, list items, or change your contact information - but you'll still have access to your account information.

Hmm, that quote didn't quite format correctly, but I'm sure you understand it. Your seller account had listings in the store at the time your accounts went unregistered. According to eBay, you need to wait 180 days with no activity before closing your account by request.

Thank you in advance for any information you can provide!

Without going into too much detail, Brandon, we had help in closing our accounts, and in gathering information as it relates to matters, concerning our eBay accounts.

My, my, here's "Poison" again on the lurk line:

"SkorpioGal, Poison"

Looking for info Poison about our eBay accounts? Here's something...that may interest you:

eBay’s attorney, Rob Chesnut was provided the following information about Trust & Safety poster(s), on August 30, 2006:

Thus far, poison-2.0 has admitted to receiving a detailed dossier about [redacted] and [redacted], which in addition to our personal identifying information, includes details about our business, business history, legal history, religion, and other data, which we have reason to believe has been altered and interpreted so as to arouse the most negative emotions possible with its readers.

The lockstep concordance and otherwise inexplicable statements made recently by various posters unknown to us provides strong circumstantial evidence, which in my opinion is clear and convincing when added to Poison-2.0’s statement as follows: “Speaking of your having no problems …tell me Art. If your personal informations was being discussed with the various members of this board via email and that information included aspects of your religion, business, business history, credit report, family life and legal issues how would you respond to that hypothetical situation?”

We first became aware of this practice of offline sharing of private information among members to garner support during discussions and to organize attacks on targeted members nearly 4 years ago when Sandy [redacted] (lady_boardwalker, Heartland Antiques) posted to a T&S discussion in December, 2002 the following: “You are well aware that I’m referring to your and your wife’s other accounts. I’d be happy to provide those ID’s to anyone who e-mails me, providing I recognize your ID…”

Since then, [redacted] “package” has developed into a rather large file these members refer to as a “history package.” These histories are used to insure that everyone in every discussion is brought to agreement concerning the subject., and the technique is most effective…..

[redacted] admitted to having received such information in a private message he sent via member to member to [redacted] as follows:

“If you don’t wish to be treated like a jerk, don’t act like one on the boards. Your id was given to [redacted]…. [redacted] have contacts in ebay that would make your head spin.”

He certainly deserves to suffer for a crime of that magnitude.

Just more frivolity, fun and games, more.... gratuitous flattery for egret now?

Well, he has been on the "lurk" line, guess you've noticed that too. Bet you've even e-mailed him already, with your solicitation for him to join in your constant quest to libel, troll and harass others on the net...... too bad you lost Jon, huh? He stopped responding to your obsessive behaviour.

A Consummate Internet Troll

Javanoire “earns” loyalty through the techniques of gratuitous flattery, calculated public and private support of key players, particularly when they are wrong and under attack, bidding at their auctions, and through choreographed attacks on “disposable” people, such as Shawn, Lorraine, and now you. She has an extreme need for undeserved admiration from others, and sincerity is never an issue, either with the excessive flattery she pours on others, or with that which she requires in reciprocation. She exhibits an abnormal sense of entitlement, always demanding more for herself and for the various groups to which she belongs than is reasonable or fair, and the rights and feelings of those adversely affected are of little or no consequence to her. She regards herself as being very unique, special, and insightful, and thus more deserving than others, consigning to ignorance and irrelevance any that fail to recognize her singular importance or that dare to contradict her. Emerging from her endless posts is a grossly exaggerated sense of self-importance, which somehow transforms every situation, event, subject, and thread into a narrative about Javanoire; the essence of all discourse thus shifts away almost entirely from substantive matters into a perverse, mindless, self-aggrandizing solipsistic fantasy of subjective exposition concerning Java’s thoughts and opinions, how a situation involves her, and how she feels about it, as if one were reading a transcript of a private therapy session. She then attempts to disguise these self-serving displays with florid paragraphs packed with gushing, gratuitous praise lavished upon people she claims to hardly know. Such meaningless flattery, laden with insincerity, and the equally worthless responses thus elicited, will immediately be detected by any astute observer, but such manipulation is seen to be surprisingly effective in establishing a sense of indebtedness and false intimacy among more credulous and inexperienced participants, and so it’s effect should not be underestimated.

Lon, if it makes you feel good to suggest you know more than others about eBay and the closing of an account, go for it, hon. Join Sandy in her libel, and defamation campaign.

You also posted about the FBI, you seem to be interested in something, perhaps you ought to contact them.

"I was accused of racketeering, shilling, bid siphoning, AI, harassing phone calls & emails, threats & terrorism."

The same answer given to Sandy, applies to JavaNoire, the libeler, stalker, harasser, and filer of FALSE police reports.....and here it is:

This is a tired old act you've been putting on now for years, falsely accusing others of having "falsely accused" you, but you've come to the end of the road with this one. If you claim that I've made allegations against you then show me where I've done that. If you can do that then I can give you the proof of any allegation I have made, because I only make true allegations. If you can't provide any proof then you need to shut up and move on to something else. You say "100 people" have seen what you claim, but all they have seen is you repeatedly posting these same old falsehoods. Over time, your lies are all that anyone can remember. You've done this to so many people before.

As you know, because you've said so yourself, the Car Wash has engaged in AI. That's no secret. It's also no secret that Polonsky had blamed you for much of it. Not I. Perhaps you're just feeling guilty by association. Perhaps that's how you're perceived.

Please forgive any duplicate statements, if you happen to be one of the curious ones who've been following all of her posts/threads. lol

It took me awhile to locate this. I read it a few days ago but couldn't remember where. I think it is a great idea and really should be enacted as an option when closing accounts with ebay:

It would be in eBay's best interest to put up a different message (other than on vacation/or naru'd) that says, the following:

NOTICE TO CAR WASH CHUMPS....

This member's account cannot be viewed at this time, check back later, stalkers. lol
