I'm taking the liberty to start a thread about all things Massachusetts. The good, the bad, and the goofy.
The place where basketball and volleyball started.
The home of Johnny Appleseed and the Toll House Cookie.
The first postal zip code and Dr. Seuss
-------------------
Anyone have a story about when they were in Massachusetts? :)

That's one of dinky states way at the top, right? Like a part of Canada? :D

All I know is Boston is there, and the movie "Good Will Hunting" was filmed there, and it was a cool movie. And Boston Rob, the Robfather, was born there, and he and Ambah were my favorite Survivors.
I live in Massachusetts, Emily. I'm sorry to tell you that the home of the Toll House Cookie is now a Wendy's. Seriously. They tore it down and built a Wendy's. :(

Isn't that the state where drunk drivers can kill people and then get elected to the US Senate? Talk about a dubious distinction....

Hi Toke! I knew you were a local which is one of the reasons I started this thread. I knew I wouldn't be alone in the Massachusetts club ;)
Who else is going to start a "club" for their state? I bet Toke and I will whoop your butts in ANY competition. :1rotfl2:
Too right, Em. What other state has tunnels that leak like ours? At a gazillion bucks a drop??? :D :D :D Our stuff is waaaaay more valuable underground.

No Wasa.
That is the state where their sitting U.S. Senator gets drunk, drives off a bridge, and a woman is killed.
Then, said senator dons a neck brace in an attempt to elicit pity and/or sympathy.
It works because said lush is reelected many times, and is still a member of congress.

is there such a thing as a really good story about being in Massachusetts?
"this one time, it snowed so much I couldn't open my door to get out and shovel...."
"this other time it got so cold my car wouldn't start"
"this year, it took until May for the huge pile of snow in my driveway to melt away completely!"
oh wait, yes, there are good stories!
"this one time when I was at the World Series... and then later at the victory parade! woooo"
I live here too! (but not for much longer!)

I grew up in Massachusetts and lived there 30+ years. I was sorry to leave, but ready to explore life in the West. There are still a lot of things I miss about MA - life in a smallish town, living near the ocean and beach, never boring weather, FALL, the sense of community brought about by one natural disaster or another :) ......................
Don't think I'll be moving that far back east, but I am aiming for NC.
I will not be starting a thread about North Nevada.

(Just going on the record to say I never voted for any of the Kennedy's for any office, ever ;) )
Klytem, welcome to the club. *snif* when are you leaving and where are you headed?

Thank you Emily! hi!
I'm hoping that by end of January we'll be living in Austin.
I figure I'll always be at least an honorary member of the MA club,
born and raised here, kids born here... but last winter just did it for me.
I've had enough. Most of my family is here too so I'll be back a
few times a year to visit. During baseball season, and never ever
in February.
oh, and I love Fluff. The Fluffernutter has to be the greatest

Has anyone ever been to Gillette Stadium? I haven't before but am going next Saturday for the DCI finals and didn't know if anyone had any tips on parking, how early to get there, stuff to bring, etc. Thanks!

Hi Emily - yep, probably will go back for a vist one of these days. My plan is to move to NC - from there New England isn't that far and I would very much like to spend some time there.
