Lawsuit: Marijuana Eases Pain In HIV Patients

OAKLAND, Calif. -- New medical evidence is cited in a lawsuit against the federal government over its ban on medical marijuana.

Researchers at the University of California at San Francisco reported that a test involving 50 HIV patients showed that those who smoked pot had much less pain than those given placebos.

The research is cited in a lawsuit filed Wednesday that says the government is arbitrarily denying sick and dying people medical relief.

The federal government said there are no acceptable medical uses for marijuana.

Eleven states, including California, have made marijuana legal for people with a doctor's recommendation, leaving patients open to arrest by federal authorities.

The lawsuit was filed in California by Americans for Safe Access.

I think the main reason it's not available for medical purposes is the fact big pharmacutical can't patent it. It works better than anything they can put in pill form and have doctors shill it at 100 times the original cost of production. Maybe that's an exageration (sp?), but it's all about the bottom line to them.

The kid that built our computer has a brother with cancer. He has to do chemo. He pretty much tosses the prescriptions he gets without filling them. They just don't work. I provide him a source for medicine that works, free of charge.

The bottom line should be the best medicine made available to those that need it. :1weed_pac

Indeed!

I've had a shitty day and my eyes are throbbing a bit. Probably shouldn't be getting a board 'fix' at all tonight.

But thank >Insert Deity here<, I also have some of the wildest half purple half green KGB I've seen in years. MUCH less than an ounce mores the pity.
