Cleaning a glass pyrex pan

Hi

I have a glass pyrex pan that I use to bake my chicken.

I spray it with Pam. Line it with foil and it still gets yucky.

I've tried several things to clean it and nothing works. It still has
some grease stuff on it.

Does anyone know how to get this pan clean?

I just had a thought. Maybe I shouldn't be spraying it with Pam?

Maybe that's whats baking on the handles?

Yep, it's the Pam. I hate that stuff on my pans. Very difficult to clean off.
I use Soft Scrub and it works fairly well.

Soft Scrub or maybe some Goo Gone/similar stuff?

Oven Cleaner works but my cleaning service used Greased Lightning to clean the oven so try either one of those.

Mr. Clean Erasers work well on that type of sticky grease as well. Whatever you use, be gentle, because you can scratch the glass.

Did you know you're not supposed to use Pam on "non-stick" pans? It builds up on them and leaves a gummy residue, and in the process of removing it, you damage the "non-stick". I use a little regular oil or a little butter depending on what I'm cooking.

An eraser is now on my list.
That gunk is terrible stuff. No more PAM for
my pyrex casserole pans. Would rather scrub off
food, thank you!

I started wiping the inside of casserole dishes with oil instead of Pam. It's easier to control where it goes, and it doesn't get gummy like the Pam does.

I no longer "do" chemicals. And I don't use PAM. If your pan is already scratched then this technique may not work:

When I get those burnt yellow/brown oil spots, I can remove them with a combo of dish soap, the hottest water I can get from the kitchen faucet which is way too hot for my hands (I wear gloves when it is really bad), a scrubbie that won't scratch the glass, and a bit of elbow grease. If I don't want to be bothered with gloves, I dump out all the hot, hot water just before I start to scrub. Of course, then I have to use a hotpad to hold the pan with my non-scrubbing had and my hotpad gets wet! Oh well, perfection is not the goal!

Hi

I tried the SOS pads. A little elbow grease and the SOS pad worked!

I'll drop my Pyrex pans in the mail to you today so that you can clean mine, too! :D :D :D

;) ;) ;)

Actually, most of my Pyrex pans are in pretty good shape, but I try to wipe the handles and the upper 1/2" or so of the sides off with a paper towel after spraying the pan with Pam. In other words, I try to only put Pam where the food will be touching the pan. It seems to wash out easier that way, and it doesn't get baked onto the handles. I just soak 'em in water while we eat, and then pop 'em into the dishwasher. :)

Speaking of scrubbies, I need to order a couple more. Maybe I'll even get an extra one for my cats, seeing as how they kept stealing my first one! :roflmao:

ETA: Yay! Scrubbies are ordered! :broc:  :carrot: :cucumber: :chilipep:
