Atkins Diet Recipes and Discussion
This is my third week on Atkins. I am now out of the induction phase. I'm a senior citizen so I won't lose as much on this diet as most of the "younger" people will and as I did way back when. I know this because, I was on the Atkins Diet some years ago and did really well. So, this thread is for all of you following the Atkins diet. I really hate to use the term diet...DIE...T. Right now, I'm a little discouraged. I'd like for anyone on this particular weight loss program to give me encouragement. Also, please feel free to list here all your Atkins weight loss tips and recipes. Thanks!

I think that a lot of the South Beach recipes are also appropriate for Atkins and vice versa. I'll do my best to check that out when a recipe is posted in the SBD thread and if it seems to fit Atkins will reference it here. And will do the same for the Atkins recipes that fit into South Beach. Sadie has started a calorie counting thread. I know that some will fit there as well and will try to do the same.
Did that make sense?

I don't call it a diet, I call it a way of life. I've been on Atkins for 2 years and can not imagine eating differently. My doctor approves, my family thinks 'the diet' is weird but they agree that it has done wonders for me. What's weird about eating veggies and meat instead of bread and taters? Okay, I live in the south, bread and taters is a way of life here. What do you find difficult about it?

likearock, this morning I decided I needed an attitude adjustment as far as my experience with Atkins. I came up with different choices for breakfast & lunch instead of the same old stuff. I really don't find this "way of life" difficult. It would help ifI liked chicken (I eat it but am not fond of it). Also, it would be a big help if I could find decent fresh fish.
The Food Network had a show on today called Low Carb & Lovin' It. This one was on Low Carb Mexican. Here's a link to the recipes and some great low carb tips: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/show..._31763,00.html

Yes the low carb show is on every Sunday at noon here. I don't know if it's on any other days or not. It's just something that I've gotten into watching on Sunday mornings. Right after that show is Calorie Commando who takes fatty recipes and pares them down. Has pretty tasty stuff and I've had the pleasure of dining with the host. :)
