Low cal creamy salad dressing

Hi! Nice forum. :)

I try not to think about food alot, as the more I think about it, the more I want to eat. Not good for my figure. :)

I have made my own creamy low cal dressing, because the stuff in the supermarket is either expensive, or not that low cal. However, my stuff is only ok, and I would like some other choices.

Anyone have any recipes for low cal. creamy dressings?

I will post mine when I have more time, if anyone is interested.

Thanks!

 Welcome!! Please do post your recipe.

I seldom use bottled dressing. However I don't really have recipes for what I make. I just make it up as I go. If I want a thicker or creamier dressing (meaning not just oil & vinegar), I add either dry mustard, low/non-fat mayo, low/non-fat sour cream or fat-free half and half. Or sometimes a combination of those. I'm not very good with measuring things when I make things like this. :o

Hi Deb,

I made up this recipe too. :)

Creamy Low Cal Salad Dressing.

one cup Kraft Fat Free Mayo. (The 10 calorie per serving kind)
one cup Dannon Plain Fat Free Yogurt.
two thirds cup white vinegar
two tablespoons unsweetened lemon juice
two tablespoons dehrdrated chopped onion
one tablespoon onion powder
one half tablespoon garlic powder
one tablespoon parsley flakes
two teaspoons basil
four packets sweet and low
one half teaspoon of salt, or to taste.
pepper to taste.

Combine yogurt and mayo first. Then combine other ingredients. Makes about three quarters of a mayo jar full.

This creamy dressing might be too bland for some people so they could spice it up some more of course. Gives me gas the way it is, though. :D

It tastes pretty good, though not as good as Walden Farms zero cal dressings. They are great, but pricey.

YUM!! I had to make a couple of substitutions along the way, but did follow your general directions.:)

Didn't have dried onions, so used fresh shallots. Had fresh garlic and parsley, so used those instead of dried. Discovered half-way thru that I was (still) out of lemon juice. So I used a little more white vinegar and then just a dash of lime juice.

This was sooooo good! DH rarely comments on a salad dressing, but he really liked this. I didn't tell him it was "diet" and don't think it even occurred to him!

Thanks for posting the recipe, Gabriel! Please come back with more!!!:)

Hi Deb,

Glad you liked it. I am sure it is better with the fresh stuff in it. :)
