Have any Recipes with Beer?

Since I'm obviously outnumbered by experts in the chocolate thread (guess you really have to be a sweets fan to know your dark chocolate hehe), I decided to start one that I at least know *something* about LOL! BEER!

I love good beer, and I do enjoy cooking from time to time, and I'd like to try to make something unique for band-night here at the house when my bandmates come over for rehearsal. My drummer and other guitar player both consider themselves adventurous beer connoisseurs (and yes I had to look that spelling up!) and I would like to surprise them with something made from a beer recipe.

I have no idea what though, so I figured this would be the place to get suggestions. Got any favorites? Know of anything fairly easy to make that is either unique or definitely tastes different than a non-beer recipe? I'm game for anything :)

In case it matters, which it probably doesn't, here are my favorite beers:
Bass Ale
Stella Artois
Grolsch

I could go on with a long list, but I'll stop at my recent top 3. I like mostly imports, and haven't really enjoyed much American beer in many years. I never intended to become a beer snob, it just happened!

Looking forward to any ideas! Thanks!

 Glad you aren't shy about asking! I don't drink beer, but I will cook with it! I've got a beer bread recipe. Sausage and beer, etc. DH loves ale and European beers and the foods that go with, so I'm always trying things like that.

I'm behind in getting recipes posted here, but I'll try to get something posted soon! Meanwhile, I hope I can counbt on everyone else to come through!!:)

Hi mepDave, I am certainly not an expert at cooking, as I mentioned in Deb's introductory "sticky thread" above. However, I immediately thought of the "Beer Can Chicken" recipe, which I happened upon months ago.

I found the concept unusual and the pictures hilarious. :D However, I have heard that the end result is quite tasty. Here is one recipe from SurrealGourmet.com.

Perhaps you have already found this, but this SITE appears to be the "grand-daddy" of all beer recipe sites. ;) They have a great multitude of beer recipes. You can also search for the beer can chicken recipe in their search engine.

You probably drink beer from a bottle (looking at your favorites), so you will just have to purchase a CAN of something for the above recipe. ;)

The pic of that chicken on the beercan cracked me up! I never saw the beercook site before, thanks for the links!! :)

I have been avoiding this thread b/c I am from AR & the redneck/hillbilly/possum eatin' beer jokes abound. I will jump in anyway & give a beer recipe my family loves, even if it is varmit lol just b/c I love OTWA:

It is for squirrel, & is so tender it is hard to remove from the pan without it falling apart.

Thaw & soak frozen meat in water with baking soda sprinkled in it (we use the kitchen sink) Change the water out a couple of times. When thawed, rinse in plain water, then put in a metal pan. Add a bottle of bbq sauce & 1/2 can of beer. Put on your grill/smoker after the charcoal burns down a bit & cook slowly until done. Depending on how much meat you put in it usually takes 1-3 hours.

:D Deanawo, I won't laugh at you. My Dad was from a small town--his parents were immigrant farmers. I can remember having dinner at their house once and we had squirrel. My grandfather said to chew carefully as there might still be some shot in it. :ignore:

My sister and I were quite young at the time and I can't remember what it tasted like, but I never really liked anything that we ate there.

I was talking with Mom about this just recently, as she won't eat meat at all. I reminded her of this time and she said she remembered, but she wouldn't eat squirrel--it was disgusting. I said, "Great, Mom. You wouldn't eat it because it was disgusting, but you let us eat it?!?!?" Harumph!!

That is the only way I will eat it. The beer & bbq make it taste a lot like chicken. I do not eat deer, duck, wild turkey, boar, bullfrogs, river catfish, crawfish, or any other local game but do cook it for dh. That is what he grew up eating & he loves it. They ususally save that stuff for camping weekends though b/c he knows I won't eat it.

Beer rollls

These are quick and very popular in the south.

2 cups Bisquick
1 teaspoon sugar
7 oz. warm beer

Mix all together, fill greased muffin cups 1/2 full and bake at 350 for about 25 minutes.

My husband loves them.
