Data Base for Recipes?

Good morning, everyone,

I'm looking for a simple, free data base program to store recipes. I want to be able to sort by type (Regular, Atkins, Low-calorie) and by meal (Entree, appetizer, etc.). Also, if possible, I'd like to be able to print out one recipe at a time when I need it.

The other alternative: I've been using HomeBase2 for my books, but I've never explored doing a second separate data base on it. Can this be done? Do I have to download a second one?

Thanks in advance for any info. My current system of small pieces of paper in various places around the house is starting to not work.

Peace,
Sadie

PS: I posted this at GT also, so my apologies to anyone who might have read this twice. :)

I'm anxious to see if anyone can hlep with this. I've been looking for something to use for recipes, too.

I found two that look interesting:

AZZ Cardfile - Free trial, then $15.00 to get rid of pop-ups (it says $12.00, but they charge a processing fee no matter how you pay.

Meal-Master

I haven't d/l anything yet. It's Sunday. :D

Peace,
Sadie

MasterCook - old but powerful (may not work with XP?) - lots of web recipes are formatted w/MC and easy to import. It does a lot more than I remember to use. I have 5.0 (6.0 is available for $8) and I don't know about 7. It's easy to add your own recipes (and comes w/several cookbooks included).

This isn't a database for recipes per se, but here is a link to Microsoft Office templates related to food, recipes and nutrition. There is one there for recipes in Access which might bear investigation for a database.

MS Access Recipe Template

My MS Access has a recipe template but it is a pain to use. I've tried a couple of times but the drop down menus for ingredients make it more trouble than it's worth.

It's easier for me to type the recipes and file them in category folders. I also have an index file and when I add a recipe I also add the title to the index. I know there is probably something better but it works for me.
