 Hi Marble! Welcome!!! I've got a lot going on today, but will try to post some recipes for you later. I'm sure others will be along to share their favorite green bean recipes, too. :)

Do you have the OTWA cookbook that Helping Hearts did a year or so ago? If so, Hepburn has a great recipe for fried green beans in it.

I've been on a roasting kick lately. And green beans are particularly good this way. Just wash and stem fresh green beans.Make sure they're good and dry. Toss them with some olive oil (doesn't take too much), season with salt & pepper and/or any herb/spices you might like. Spread in a single layer on a baking sheet (I line mine with non-stick foil). Bake for 45 min. to an hour at 375-400 degrees. Watch carefully and toss once in a while, but let them get nice and browned/almost burned and crispy. :tasty:

Marble,

I was going through a magazine for some Tday recipes last night and saw this one, remembered you were after a new green bean dish ...

Green Bean & Portobello Saute http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_22516,00.html

I've never tried it but it sounds good and looks pretty simple to make.
(We are skipping the beans this year, but I'm making a corn casserole that I saw on TV that looks yummarific, so thats MY break-from-tradition meal contribution. Last year it was a broccoli dish that got raves but OF COURSE I lost the recipe, hehe)

Marble,

This recipe is as "old as the hills" and is the original (as the later recipes are slightly different). However, my family still enjoys eating green beans in this manner, especially at Thanksgiving.

ORIGINAL GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE
*2 cans (1 lb each) cut green beans, drained
3/4 cup milk
1 can (10-3/4 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/8 t black pepper
1 can (2.8 oz) Durkee French Fried Onions
*Or 2 packages (9 oz each) frozen cut green beans, cooked and drained
Combine beans, milk, soup, pepper and 1/2 can French fried onions; pour into a 1-1/2 quart casserole. Bake uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Top with remaining onions and bake 5 minutes longer.

I usually prepare this recipe with fresh green beans that have been blanched.
