Kentucky is in the South! Missouri is lower-midwest-almost Southern ex-confederate state.

I think Kentucky definitely qualifies as the South. I practically needed a translator when I moved here to Iowa.
It depends on which part. My son's live in Louisville, it's not much different than Ohio. If you get further down towards Somerset, then you'll really see and hear the difference.

Hi, Eriu! You're in Northern KY, aren't you?
I'm down on Lake Cumberland (Russell County).
Yes, I'm in Northern Ky, just about 10 miles south of Cincinnati. So, to me this not being in the south.
I love Lake Cumberland! Beautiful. We use to spend a week each summer on a houseboat there.
So which area did Bluey choose?

Kentucky is midwest, at least that's where their college sports teams are categorized.

If you go by sports, then Indiana is in the south, according to the NFL.
I think KY is a southern state. It's one of the northernmost southern states, along with VA and WV. And yes, Lake Cumberland is beautiful and oh-so-big with all of those fingers. Dale Hollow is nice, too.
I think there should be a new category called mideast. It could include Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, and Kentucky. The middle states west of the Mississippi would be the midwest. Most people around here just refer to it as the heartland (as opposed to the right lung land, I guess).
