Interesting thread, but definitely chat-like in appearance and content ...

I would think the artistic thing to do would be to move this thread and leave a shadow behind ...

I remember this one song( Sukiyaki ) when I was a kid and I liked that girls band in Kill Bill. There appears to be somewhat of a lull in between.........:lol

Life of Kyu Sakamoto
Kyu Sakamoto (Sakamoto Kyu in Japanese) was born Hisashi Oshima (Oshima Hisashi in Japanese) on 10 November 1941 in
Quote:
Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture. He made his show business debut in 1960.

His biggest hit, Ue o Muite Aruko (I Look Up When I Walk; Sukiyaki in the West), was released in Japan in 1961. After its release in the U.S. in 1963, the song's earnestness and melodic beauty proved irresistible despite its incomprehensible lyrics. Against all odds, on 15 June 1963, the song ousted Leslie Gore's It's My Party to become the No. 1 popular song in the U.S. (After three weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard chart, Sukiyaki was deposed by Easier Said Than Done by The Essex.) To this date, Sukiyaki remains the biggest international hit by a Japanese popular singer.

Yes. Music. that's fine - that works. Just not a main forum topic.

Wise choice, of course, Ross. We were wrong saying it was chat - it's clearly music ...

Yoko Kanno and the Seatbelts.

Did the music for Cowboy Bebop, some of the most evocative series music I ever heard.

Yoko Kanno is involved in that, as well.

I love Major Motoko Kusinagi! She's the WAY coolest, EVER!

Ross, Hey Hey, is like a Japanese variety show. It has all the popular bands and singers. That's where I first saw Yoshiki. They have smoke, fireworks, and all that good stuff while the people are performing, sometimes big productions. Good rock.

It's also pretty funny, except I have no idea what they're talking about, because I don't understand Japanese. It's on late Sunday night here on KTSF.
